1 THE CONSPIRATORS
Gaius Cassius Longinus, Marcus Junius Brutus, Decimus Junius Brutus Albinus and over thirty other Senators of the Roman Republic conspired against Julius Caesar.
2 THE REASON FOR HIS DEATH
Tension mounted between Caesar and the Senate of Rome, on account of Caesar’s possible claims to the title of king. In fact, financial birthrights allowed Senators to buy their seat in power. Furthermore, the senators wanted to live by their own rules and not under Caesar’s ideals. Motivated by these factors the senators decided to assassinate him.
3 THE WAY OF HIS DEATH
The majority of the conspirators decided to assassinate him while the Senate sat in session. Because Julius Caesar and the conspirators would be the only ones inside the Senate building this created a perfect opportunity to carry out their dastardly plans. Hidden beneath their togas, the conspirators wielded their daggers and surprised Caesar with their mutiny.
