The Autobiography Of Ben Ferencz
The biggest takeaway that I had from Ben Ferencz's biography was not of his career, but at how quickly he got into it. I am most impressed that he was able to graduate Harvard Law at the age of 23. This is an accomplishment that I think is impressive because the average entering age is 24 years old. That means that Ferencz was much ahead of his class, and it shows.

Opportunities are the key factor to success, which in turn build an identity for the person who takes the chance. For instance, Morton Janklow, a man who built a law firm from scratch, became a lawyer as a result of his unusually lucky birth time. He was born on May 30, 1930, during the height of the Great Depression. This means by the time he was forty it was the year 1970 when the need for lawyers skyrocketed. For instance, with corporate takeovers and proxy battles, businesses needed lawyers to keep their businesses open and out of the hands of other…

The culture of society has revolved around the idea that education is the key to every person’s success. However, people have the stigma that one who earns an education equivalent to that of a high school graduate, is not as intelligent as a college graduate. Society needs to stop valuing education based on the level of education one has obtained, but rather by how one can incorporate what he or she has learned with the demands of the general public.…

Earlier this semester I had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Kahn, and asked him some questions. I was interested in asking him questions because I had admired him as a teacher, and a person throughout the semester. I had never met someone who appeared as intelligent as Dr. Kahn, but was also down to earth. In class he spoke in a way that was easy to understand, he also accepted, and answered our questions no matter how ignorant, or insignificant.…

The guest lecture with Ben Dunlap on life-long learning was great and kept me wanting to watch. I thought he was a great storyteller and I enjoyed watching the lecture. Ben Dunlap, the president of Wossford College in South Carolina, tells stories of three successful men: Sandor Teszler, Francis Robicsek, and Roger Milliken. I thought that his main point he was trying to get across was to “live each day as if it is your last and learn as if you’ll live forever”-A famous quote by Mahatma Ghandi. I also think Dunlap was trying to explain the common quality that the three main had in common which was an inextinguishable, undaunted appetite for learning and experience.…
