What is a utopia? An imagined place where everything is perfect. What is a dystopia? It is a community or society that is undesirable or frightening. A dystopia is an attempt at a perfect society, or utopia, but it turns out poorly. In the definition of dystopia, I used the word undesirable. Undesirable is a key word in the definition of dystopia meaning that something is not worth having or doing or, in this case, living. Imagine living in a world where you had to follow uniform expectations, you have a lost sense of reality, and you have lost all individuality. Most people thought that the bar code was the best thing to happen to their country. They felt like Global-1, Tattoo-Gen and the government were going to make everything better. At least, that is what a person would think and want. Citizens did not want any change from Global-1. It was almost like everyone was brainwashed to believe in Global-1 and let them control the world. Global-1 was able to bring the bar code from Europe to Asia, and then to the United States. By the time the United States got the tattoo, people in Europe were demanding to get their tattoo’s off. Most people in the America didn’t care or wonder why Europeans weren’t happy with the bar code, so Global-1 was able to have authority over America quite easily. Americans also thought that Global-1 would keep them safe. The citizens had a complete misconception over what was really happening to their country. Global-1 was only thinking of themselves, not the citizens of the country, which made Kayla lose trust in a lot of people. The only way she could trust people was if they didn’t have the tattoo, and even that was risky. There were times that she had to take risks about who she trusted and if people found out that Kayla was against the tremendous Global-1, she could’ve gone to jail, and not just for fighting Global-1, but for what Global-1 caused her family to do. Kayla’s mother tried to burn her tattoo off, but ended up killing herself and injuring Kayla. When Kayla was in the hospital after the fire, she woke up to hear the nurses talking about tattooing her. She felt that she had to run away to make sure that she didn’t get the tattoo. Then there were accusations from Globalofficers about Kayla being made because it was believed that Kayla had tried to kill her mother. She was also liable for toll jumping and being
