Every thing will have its contester, in one form or another. For examples, Mcdonalds contesters will be Burger kings, Wendy's, and so on. Nike contesters will be Adidas, or Puma. Lamborghini contesters will be a Ferrari, and Porsche. They are all similar in some way, but yet they are all competing against one another. Maybe for the sales, maybe for building the fastest cars, the number one spot, and ultimately fighting to become the best. All of this competition will lead to many discussions like who are the best, which one is better, and which one is fastest. When child argues with their friends about superheroes, they often favor the superhero they like and argue how he/she is the best. The true is, all superheroes are similar in some way,…
My decision to join the military in general I believe subconsciously started when my older brother returned from Army basic training. While my brother was a pretty smart guy he had never really been to apply himself nor did he have the drive to, but whatever had happened to him during army basic training had made a change in him; a change for the best. He came back and the transformation was evident in every single one of his actions and thoughts. He had a drive to accomplish all of his goals dreams and aspiration, not only that he had the discipline necessary to stay on his new found path. I went on to college in the fall fallowing his return from basic training not sure if these new traits and strength I saw in him would continue or disappear. When I returned home that fall after my first semester and talked to him and I saw the changes had stayed with him and grown even further. With all that he had used the tools he had been given to accomplish so much in already so little of time. All that stayed in my head, but it did not become relevant to me until my sophomore year of college. I realized that while I was…
Working for the U.S military requires active-duty troops to be both mentally and physically strong. Sometimes, some military soldiers are not able to handle the enormous stress that comes along with their duty which results in them to commit suicides. In an article in USA Today, the author mentions, “Suicides among active-duty troops has averaged a record 33 a month this year, according to Pentagon data through Sep 22.” These statistics shows that all the military soldiers are facing problems that are much deeper than just physical issues, which may include financial distress and relationship problems. The author states “combating [military suicides] will be a top Pentagon priority, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says.” This article shows…
The Viet Cong referred to them as "the men with green faces," due to the face paint they wore during combat missions. After striving to indicate a person who has had a significant influence on me I have come to a conclusion, that rather than a individual person I have a particular group. This particular group is unlike any other in the I the world. This group consists of elite men who put their homeland before themselves, they are capable of putting the needs of others before their own. These men were willing to do everything and anything to become part of the elite group known around the world as the Navy Seals.…
The Armed Forces is something my family is quite familiar with and has been an influential part of my life as a structure of leadership. My dad has told me a multitude of things he has experienced while in the Army and the opportunities given at hand when he was enlisted. I have also heard praises from many family members and family friends to the loved ones that have taken another step ahead by enrolling into college, and enhancing their leadership skills to become well renowned officers of the military. I will be taking this same road of success, but pushing it another level by applying for the NROTC, which will train my mind and body to guide others when I am commissioned into the Marine Corps.…

Working in the Navy as a SEAL he had learned what kind of hard work it takes to be one. He met so many friends that he had met through the years of being a Navy SEAL. Friends that would last a lifetime. He was an inspiration. “Adam provided the children of Kunar Province, Afghanistan, with warm socks and winter-worthy shoes during this deployment.” (Blehm…
Having been involved in the scouting program for well over a decade and with most of which being during the most formative times of my life, Scouting has certainly contributed to my desire to become a Marine Corps Officer. From the onset of the scouting program I have been instilled with many values, starting every scout function with the scout law, “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.” While there are many valuable principles thought by both the scouts and the Marine Corps the (65)three main values that both organizations stress of honor, courage, and commitment are among the ones I hold most high. The familiar sense of brotherhood within the Marine Corps is also something that I feel a very close and strong connection with is brotherhood is and was a fundamental part of my close-nit high school community. As an Eagle Scout I was taught to lead by example and as a marine I would strive to do the same, leading from the front and always living up to the standards of honor, courage, and commitment set forth by the Navy and Marine Corps long time-honored history.(63)(128)…

Why Athletic Training? Since the day I started kindergarten, I have been involved in athletics in some way. I enjoy watching, playing, and being involved with athletics. Besides seeing the country, the most important thing I gained from being in a military family was meeting people from all walks of life. Living in Southern California helped expose me to new cultures that I hadn’t experienced before, and going to school that was mostly comprised of Mexican-Americans allowed me to transcend any racial barriers at young age. It was at this small Catholic school that I met my closest friends and created my fondest memories during my childhood. The lifelong friends that my parents met are a still apart of my life, and I hope to be connected with their families in another fifty…

As a veteran I can say one of the biggest issues we have faced was that of readjustment to a civilian lifestyle from a military lifestyle. Service members are used to order and the feeling that they are part of something great as well as knowing they have the support system there when they most need it. That support system is that of their fellow brothers and sisters they serve alongside with. When a veteran returns home they feel…
