To fully grasp the potential for positive impact on the individual or group, it is important to define and understand vegetarianism fully, as well as the reason that many choose this lifestyle. There are several types of vegetarianism, and at least as many variations of each. Many of these deviations can be beneficial when properly executed, but for the purpose of clarity; the benefits of a pesco-vegetarian lifestyle will be explored. Pesco-vegetarianism can be defined as a dietary lifestyle that includes fish in addition to the basic vegetarian diet of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and grains such as wheat and rice (Null & Feldman, 2011).
