The Best Teacher
The Best Teacher There are many types of folks in this world and many types of teacher too. Therefore, there are many qualities that good teachers have and makes them to be the best teacher. Then Have you ever had the best teacher? You might have had the one who is able to change his teaching methods, who is happy with his/her life, and who can persist. This is the teacher who makes school lives of the student easier and make them to love school. The first category of the best teachers is the one who is always analyzing what he or she is teaching, and makes necessary alterations to his/her methods. Hence, good teachers are who will adopt or change their methods of teaching if they see they aren’t working. A good example of this is my high school experience, where I had a really good teacher who found an inventive way to teach her material. When I was in my freshman year, I had a teacher who taught me math. My classmates had been having problems learning some algebra formulas. At the moment when we took quizzes, those problems were seen, and the result was that most of my classmates got lower grades. Obviously, my teacher noticed the problem. Consequently, she found a new way to teach us those formulas. The new method was that we had to sing a song to learn those algebra formulas. Her new strategy really worked, and everybody loved it. Thus, everybody was getting higher grades. Moreover, her class became interesting, and almost no one failed in her class. Because of her new teaching system, everybody thought that she was the best teacher. This example of my experience, where I had a teacher who changed her teaching method, demonstrates that a good teachers are teachers who will adopt or change their teaching strategies if they see those strategies aren’t working. In addition, the best teachers are who enjoy doing their job. People who loves their professions tend to be happy, energetic, dedicated, and positive due to the fact that they love what they do. Thus, having a positive teacher, students feel comfortable in his classes, free of asking questions or asking for help when they don’t understand a topic. This type of teacher remembers me one specific teacher that a had in my high school. When I was in my Senior year, my Computers teacher, Mss Maricela, showed me that she really liked her job. She always came to school happy, and gave me and my classmates confidence. We developed a really good friendship and whenever we had problems understanding her class, she was happy to help us during the class or going to her house. We really enjoyed her classes. Hence, my classmates and I with this kind of teacher felt enthusiastic to learn the material, the wish of being good students, and coming to school everyday. Finally, the third category of the best third category of the best teachers are who have perseverance. Those teachers have the ability to overcome personal obstacles, and this quality gives them the skills to persevere in the classroom. I just read an article where a magnificent example of such a teacher was Mr. Jaime Escalante. He was a famous Bolivian teacher in America. When Mr. Escalante was 30 and was already a professor, he had to immigrate to the United States to get a better life. He had many obstacles in his life such as having to work a many jobs, learn English by himself, and get another college degree before he could be a teacher again. Escalante was a teacher in a high school where he had another big obstacle. He taught math to lower-income students where violence and drugs problems were seen. Moreover, everybody thought that those students were too difficult to teach, but Escalante has a different thought. He worked hard with them in a high-level math program. A great proof that he was a excellent teacher was that his students passed an advanced placement test in Calculus. As we can see, teachers like Mr. Escalante showed dedication to their profession, which means that great teachers are people who can deal with any problems that appear in their teaching lives because they have a history of overcoming their personal challenges. We are entrusting our children to our educators for most of their childhood years. Shouldn’t we make sure that the teachers from our schools hired are among the best? And who is the best teacher ? The best teacher is someone who work hard to overcome any obstacles in his way, is persistent in their mission to teach, and has has the passion to teach. Perhaps only when we hire good teachers we begin to see a change in our educational system and along with that, in the knowledge our students take away with them from high school and into the college classroom.

Teachers all learn different ways and all have different teaching abilities. Students all also have a specific way they learn. The two teachers that have made the biggest impact in my life were my AP English teacher Mrs. Fale and my Chemistry teacher Mr. Barrington. They both had great qualities I admired, including; great structure, willingness to help, patience, and kindness. My AP English teacher was understanding and helped me know exactly the format and what I needed to work on for my papers. Mr. Barrington, my Chemistry, on the other hand, loved when we would ask questions and teach our classmates, he was very hands on.…

We, as students, tend to adopt the best we learned from teachers and avoid what we did not like. For instance, some students might have had a great teacher who put effort into the classes and used a variety of meaningful materials, but they also had a teacher who did not use another material but the book, and the classes were boring. Later on, those students become teachers, it can be thought they will teach just as the “best” teacher did because they preferred to learn with those methods, but sometimes teachers are tired, run out of time, or have several things to do, so they choose to teach as the second teacher, and they become what they tried to avoid. I consider we, as teachers, have to keep ourselves motivated to give the best we can, following our teaching beliefs. However, it is important to consider there are not perfect teachers, but it is essential to know there is the possibility to be a good teacher. Harmer (1998) explains that in a survey, people answer a good teacher was a teacher who has a good relationship with his/her students. I believe that if student teachers have teachers that inspire them, they are most likely to adopt those attitudes when…

My best teacher that I have had thus far in my academic teacher would have to be Elias Semaan. Professor Semaan taught the upper level Finance courses here at JMU and his intelligence as well as his passion captured my attention and made me want to absorb the knowledge that he was preaching. I had Professor Semaan my sophomore and junior year and he was great. He taught a difficult course, FIN 360 Analytical Methods in Finance but he made difficult concepts and equations seem easy by going through the logic behind them and why and how we use them. He added in humor to lighten the heavy load of the courses content and keep the class happy. He was also very creative and used his own little real world examples while explaining bigger critical concepts. Professor Semaan did an excellent job of keeping the class active and participating. He was open to the student’s opinion and always asked at the beginning of class if anyone was having trouble with anything in the course or had any questions, if they did we would discuss it as a class until everyone was caught up.…
