The atomic bomb is a bomb that rapidly releases energy causing destructive damage through heat. The atomic bomb dropped on Japan was not needed it was an evil act and was unnecessary. It was undoubtedly not required to drop a 4-ton barbaric weapon that is equivalent to 5 million dollars on another country. The United States Military had already launched a sea blockade that consisted of a submarine campaign before the bomb was dropped. It was cutting food and supplies. Not only was it already beaten by seas. There was a massive amount of air attacks; the United States already had control of the Japanese air space before the atomic bomb. With Majority control of Japans airs the United States conducted many raids on Japan causing extensive destruction by dropping over tens of thousands pounds of bombs. This had already caused massive destruction to towns and cities. It was a race towards who could have the first atomic bomb. When The United States Successfully accomplished the bomb it was at first a way to initiate Japan into Surrendering but the second bomb was a way to show superiority towards the rest of the world that America is very powerful. The alternative is what could have happened if the bomb was not used? Japan was already getting dominated by sea and by air they were being isolated and not allowed resources it was only a matter of time till Japan could have surrendered. If the bombs were not used there would not be near as many deaths and utter destruction. But we cannot no for sure if Japan could have surrendered or not, and if they did not surrender what could have been lost? Many American troops would have lost their lives. But instead of a civilian loss it could have been a military loss. Japan was already dominated by the United States they were running out of resources and did not have long until rioting would have started the United States was a huge problem for Japan. They were surrounded. The only suitable reason to drop the Atomic bombs on Japan was to make them surrender but one bomb causing destruction was enough they did not need to drop both weapons. Although the war ended for America the death began in Japan. The concept of nationalism should not be embraced because nationalism greatly impacts both Quality of life and Ethics.
Quality of life is the general well being in people, societies, or even a nation. Quality of life is greatly impacted by war it raises the issue of survival and contradicts the thought of enhanced living. In a factor such as war quality of life is extensively diminished to the people, it inflicts suffering and mass casualties. Quality of life becomes decimated by the loss of family members, income and the happiness of people.
Before the use of the first atomic bomb there was already a massive amount of destruction. The United States were initiating air raids such as Conventional bombings against Japan by dropping tens of thousands pounds of bombs on Japan on towns and cities. Without the use of the atomic bomb the air attacks had already killed up to 900,000 innocent civilians. As the Raids were happening the quality of life had already gone down, great amount of people were losing their lives, families be torn apart houses destroyed there was death and suffering before the bomb was actually dropped. “The Japanese position was hopeless even before the first atomic bomb fell, because the Japanese had lost control of their own air” Stated general of the U.S. Army Air Forces, Henry H.. After the atomic bomb had been released the quality of life had been limited, with all the devastation the bomb had brought it had also brought a disease and massive fires, which lead to fire tornados. The fires from the atomic bomb were lit instantaneously people were so burned that they were unrecognizable. “The swollen faces could not be recognized due to the burns” said Koji Ueda This affected Quality of life because there was no distinction between deceased family members it was not possible to tell if they were related or not. Another was Diseases X. This was caused by the radiation of the bomb from this lead to all types of cancers and leukemia a total of 20,699 people were killed by cancers after the bombs. From the radiation women became infertile and were not eligible to have children this greatly impacted the quality of life because generation were lost because of the radiation. Even before the use of the atomic bomb Japan Quality of life was consistent with suffering and mass destruction. If the bomb was not used in Japan there would have still surrendered it had lost control of its air space and was blocked by a sea blockade they were trapped. The atomic bomb greatly affected the quality of life to the Japanese because they lost family and homes.
Ethics are the rules to recognize and respect human actions. War impacts ethics because human respect is missing. Ethics become blinded by war the respect for races is gone. It goes against the moral of right and wrong it is the indecency to not respect people morals and not to abide by the rules and regulations towards peoples lives. How to inappropriately put superiority over inferiority. To think people are at a higher level and to induce fear can result in mass destruction and undoubtedly mass murder.
The first use of the atomic bomb was one of the most covert ops in the United States history, yet it was and experimental weapon it has never be tested before, military leader Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr. stated that “The first atomic bomb was an unnecessary experiment. . . . It was a mistake to ever drop it. . . . [the scientists] had this toy and they wanted to try it out, so they dropped it. . . . It killed a lot of Japs.” It wasn’t even about surrendering for the scientist’s they wanted to try out a new weapon. The United States sent physic majors and scientist to look at the destruction, many people who survived are look at and treated as lab experiments. Before the bomb was dropped scientist new to get maximum potential for the bomb they had to make it explode in the air, they put more time into discussing how to cause maximum destruction than to actually think about the lives that were being incinerated and the people being burned. After Hiroshima the town was turn into a massive waste land 70,000 people were killed instantly and 70,000 were injured, it was designed as a way to cause Japan into surrendering but were the bomb was dropped was far from a military target 80% of the people were civilians and had not done harm. 67% of the buildings in Hiroshima were destroyed. After the bomb was dropped Japan still had not surrendered, so to initiate surrender the United States dropped a second bomb in Nagasaki. 40,000 more people were killed instantly. Atomic shadows were now in place of once living people. Japan finally surrenders after the Nagasaki. Although the war might of ended for America the death began in Japan. America new of the atrocity that happened in Japan but the United States government refused to share the images to the public because they thought it was too disturbing.
The thought of nationalism should not be embraced because it had a major impact on quality of life and ethics. If the bomb was not dropped Japan would've been spared the horror. Harmless, innocent civilians were horribly murdered; the following radiation made the cities unlivable for the longest time, and the environment was harmed horribly. Ethnics was majorly disregarded it went against human decency. It was cruel and barbarous to not think of human lives and how many innocent civilians could have been harmed. The United States could have stuck with firebombing it would have gotten Japan to surrender and with less deaths but more building casualties. It would not have lead to the after effects of an atomic bomb, like the contamination of their water sources and crop, and radiation poisoning. It would have also not leaded other countries to try and construct other nuclear weapons. The people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not criminals. They were just normal people going about their day. Not only was it inhumane to the survivors, but also that land is now ruined by radiation. There is no excuse for causing the devastation that the U.S. released upon that area of land.

World War II was a global war from 1939 to 1945. Japan surrendered on 15 August 1945, which brought the total victory of the Allies. Right before Japan’s surrender, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and another one on Nagasaki. The atomic bombs caused great damage to Japan and killed estimated 129000 to 246000 people. However, the bombings helped to bring the war to an end. Whether President Truman should make the decision to drop the bombs is still a topic to debate. Due to the fact that it was the best decision Truman could make, the bombs ended the war, and reduced the loss at that time, President Truman was justified in his decision to drop the bombs on japan.…

In the article, Ending The War Against Japan: Science, Morality And The Atomic Bomb, the author provides information on the war in the Pacific which involved the United States and Japan. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor the United States entered the second World War in 1941. United States gained control of Okinawa in 1945 which meant that the U.S had control, in the months of May through August there were major air attacks on Japan, the Manhattan Project and the two atomic bombs the United States dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were part of the choice out of the many options that might have been given to President Truman and Secretary of War, Henry Stimson. They felt that dropping the atomic bomb was the best way to get the Japanese to give an unconditional surrender.…

In President Harry Truman speech to inform his citizens on how he was going to end WWII, he said the U.S. “shall destroy their docks, their factories, and their communications. Let there be no mistake; we shall completely destroy Japan’s power to make war” (Harry Truman). The U.S. made it very clear that their main goal was to force Japan to surrender and that they would stop at nothing to make that happen. Evidently, even using the world’s first nuclear weapons in war did not limit the United States. After the destruction and devastation the bombs had caused, Japanese officials had no other choice but to unconditionally surrender, and announce an end to the war. Though there is still a debate today about whether the bomb was necessary to end…

Although there were attempts at peace, Japan showed no signs of agreement towards a peaceful and unconditional surrender. Japan’s reluctance to stop fighting could have left to months more of fighting and thousands of more deaths. The atomic bomb ensured an enormous display that could quickly end the war. As Cuhrchill proclaimed, “the end of the Japanese war no longer depended upon the pouring in of their armies for the final and perhaps protracted slaughter… this nightmare picture [has] vanished… in its place the vision of the end of the whole war in one or two violent shocks” (Doc E). Churchill summed up the gist of America’s reasoning for implementing the bombs. The United States did not have to depend on the slaughter of millions of people in bloody, messy fights, and , instead, “a speedy end to the Second World War” could be reached with one machine (Doc E). However, once the first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, the Japanese continued to resist. It wasn’t until a second bomb was dropped that Japan surrendered with a simple stipulation that their emperor remain in his position. This alone proves the military necessity of the bombs. Despite the attack on Hiroshima, Japanese still wished to continue their war. If not for the second bomb, who know how many lives would have been lost.…

The decision to drop two atomic bombs on Japan in August of 1945 was made by a complex group of technological, political and military influences. History has it that the bombs were dropped in order to save American lives by avoiding the invasion of Japanese homelands, at least, that was what President Truman told the American public at the time. “For years, this simple view has been challenged by a seemingly more sophisticated academic perspective that the bombs were wrongfully used against innocent civilians, did not genuinely factor into the surrender of Japan, and would have better served the war effort as part of a diplomatic “carrot and stick” package.” (Beason 1). Some argue that the first bomb may have been required to achieve Japanese surrender, but the second one was a needless act of barbarism. According to Admiral William D. Leahy, the President’s Chief of Staff, “The use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war over Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender…” (Beason 1). However, I have many facts to counteract all of these criticisms and to support President Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb.…

If the war continued, an invasion would be needed and such an invasion “… would have cost an estimated million casualties,” (The Decision to Drop the Bomb). It was even believed by President Truman “… that the bombs saved Japanese lives as well,” (The Decision to Drop the Bomb). Even though the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, the quick end to the war they brought saved more lives in the long run than those that were lost in the…

The atomic bomb shouldn’t have been used in World War 2 to defeat Japan. America could have used other alternatives then the deadly atomic bomb. President Truman should of waited a few more weeks for russia to declare war on Japan. The thought of invasion by both of America and Russia probably had an even more scared effect on the Japanese government then the Atomic Bombs. America could of also continue the conventional bombings and blockade.…

I don't think that the US should have bombed Japan. It was entirely unnecessary and the US had plenty of opportunities to do other things. America could have used a technical demonstration to show how powerful the bombs were on a nearby, but uninhabited, island. This would have been a effective intimidation act while not adding to WWII's already enormous death count. Admittedly this alone would not have ensured Japan's surrender, but Japan was planning on surrendering in the fall off 1945. The only thing that was keeping them from surrendering sooner was their unwillingness to accept completely unconditional surrender. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki may have ended World War II, but was it worth the lives…

By dropping the atomic bomb, we were able to put an end to a war that could have continued for many more years. Though there was much controversy over the bomb, Truman, our president at the time, apprised America saying he was quite thankful for it and celebrated the scientific achievements of the minds that created it. America was the first country to create something of this caliber and he wanted us to realize how great it was. The pragmatic decision helped America to establish its military power on a global scale. It is believed that Japan did not believe that we had a weapon that could cause so much destruction, so we had no choice but to show them. The Japanese people do not believe in surrendering, they see it as dishonorable and are…

The dropping of the Atomic Bomb was an attack made on the Japanese by the Americans. Although the dropping of the Atomic Bomb by the United States helped to end World War II, the act was unjustified because of innocent Japanese civilians that were needlessly murdered and were not given sufficient time to surrender from the area. Consequently, the Japanese were defeated before and they were attempting to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the unsuccessful bombing with conventional weapons. This would be the reason that the bombing was not useful.…

Firstly, the bombs saved more lives than it claimed. To illustrate, many American and Japanese lives would have been lost in the battles to capture Japan. Similar to the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, the Japanese would never surrender until all of their forces were lost, and this would result in a copious amount of death and despair. The Allied generals estimated over a 1,000,000 lives would have been lost in the upcoming battles if Truman did not decide to end the war with the atomic bombs. Additionally, the Japanese threatened to execute 100,000 Allied prisoners of war if they decided to invade the Japanese mainlands. Thus, by dropping the atomic bombs, many lives, including both Japanese and American, have been saved by bringing the war to an abrupt stop. Furthermore, the Japanese were given a fair warning before the Allies dropped the Atomic bombs. On July 26, a few days before the dropping of the bombs, President Truman issued a final ultimatum for the Japanese forces to surrender or be bombed. Yet, Emperor Hirohito declared that he would not surrender. On account of Emperor Hirohito not surrendering, Truman decided to drop the Atomic Bombs to end the war quickly. Hence, the Japanese were given a choice to surrender or to be bombed, but they chose to be bombed. Although many argue that the Atomic Bombs were not justified because they…

Was the atomic bomb truly as diabolical despite putting an end to WWII and saved much more millions in the process? After defeating two out of the three main Axis powers (Italy and Germany), Japan, the remaining main Axis power, still had no intentions of surrendering. The United States was forced to be in the position in which they drop the atomic bomb on Japan and sacrifice Japanese lives for their own or reconsider forming another plan to bring Japan to mercy. Ultimately, the U.S. was in favor with the atomic bomb so they dropped two in total, one each in two major cities: Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This had successfully brought Japan to their unconditional surrender and to the end of World War II.…

“We are in possession of the most destructive explosive ever devised by man” stated Leaflet B dropped on August 6th, 1945. Since the United States knew how destructive the bomb was, they should have not used it in the first place. Not only was japan in danger but Leo Szilard and 69 co-signers at the Manhattan Project stated “ the cities of the United States as well as the cities of other nations will be in continuous danger of sudden annihilation.” Most people working on the project for two and a half years did not even know what they were working on or hiding from the American public. Though, Japan killed and injured many Americans, the U.S. killed more people and left Japan with high levels of radiation for many years after the bomb was dropped. In conclusion, the United States was not in any way justified for the decision of dropping the atomic…
