creation, but it was described very differently. I was told that the first verse of Genesis was the first instance of creation. One of the reasons I was given for this theory was because of the first verse’s mention of the earth being void and without form. It was also explained to me that God would never create something without form and that the earth was without form because the devil destroyed the first earth that was created. I did not believe the theory I was told, but after I read the first three chapters of Genesis for this class; I was surprised that there were two accounts of creation. I was surprised and confused, yet I was also glad when I read these passages. The differences in the two accounts of creation were things that I had never learned about. I was surprised that man was created before plants and animals in once instance, and male and female were created last in the second instance. I was glad that I had read these passages because I had found a new understanding about creation in the Bible. It would be difficult to explain how the earth was created in complete depth, but here is how I would explain how and when the earth was created to someone based on these passages.
I would explain that there are two instances of creation in the book of Genesis, but they have different perceptions. The first account describes God creating light and darkness on the first day, the sky on the second day, the oceans, land, plants and vegetation on the third day, the stars, sun and moon on the fourth, the animals in the sea and air on the fifth and every land animal on the sixth day. Humans were also created on the sixth day in the first instance, but they were created last. The second account of creation says that man was created before plants and animals. The first account focuses on how God created the earth, but the second instance focuses on the story of the creation of man. These two passages raise many questions in the actual creation of the earth. I do not know exactly how and when the world was created, but I would love to learn as much as I could about
it.
