People don't need to even study literature in school or become authors as a job to be able to have an impact on the way that literature portrays difficulties in life. One of such is Lucille Clifton who was born in 1936. This was during the time of the Civil Rights Movement along with the woman suffrage movement. While she went to college and went on to work as a clerk and as a literature assistant, she never studied writing in college. But she wrote poems as an outlet to her frustrations with the way society was treating women.…

Pacyga’s novel Chicago: A Biography explores the obstacles faced by blacks during the evolving of Chicago through accounts of public housing, street gangs, education, and juvenile delinquency. The film There Are No Children Here tells the story of two boys growing up in a housing project in Chicago infested with crime and a shortage of money, guidance, and tranquility. Knowledge of the struggles of the residents of Chicago, in particular African Americans, is essential to the history of the city. Were these struggles possibly dreams deferred? Both Pacyga’s novel and the film There Are No Children Here convey the trials and tribulations of the African Americans who made their homes in Chicago years ago. However, Pacyga displays a bird’s eye view while the film provides a front row seat to African American struggles in the evolving Chicago.…

On occasion, messages of all sorts were given out at black church gatherings and prayer meetings, but not about the day and time that Harriet Tubman would be coming to town. The risk of betrayal about individual escapes and collective rebellions, was far too great for escape plans to be widely shared. Its stated that “80 percent of these fugitives were young males in their teens and twenties who generally absconded alone. Indeed, [between 1838 and 1860] 95 percent fled alone.…

The Payroll Project will provide you with extended practice in keeping payroll records and accounting for payroll transactions. Your completion of this project involves an application of the information learned in the preceding chapters. The work provided resembles that prevailing in the office of every employer in the United States subject to the provisions of the Federal Wage and Hour Law, income tax withholding laws, social security laws, and unemployment compensation laws. Even though most payroll systems now employ computers, it is important that the practitioner understand the operations performed by the computer. If your assignment involves the use of Appendix A (computerized option) to complete this project, it is suggested that you do at least one of the…

A very popular book often read in high-school is Animal Farm. The bookalthough distinguished as a children's story, relates to many historical events in the past,. Lord Acton once said "Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolueley." In my opinion, another excellent theme for the book is: "Idealism forced on reality only leads to destruction." In other words, the idealism of the animals to get rid of Mr. Jones only leads to the destruction of the farm. The people that perform extraordianry work will eventually get tired of doing all the work with little reward for themselves.…
