Liesel changes from innocent to rebellious in her first few years on Himmel Street. She has grown up a lot; she is no longer a scared little girl not willing to leave behind her old life. She is now a daring teenager. However her new personality gets her into trouble. She begins to do things like steel books and food. “Perhaps the woman hadn’t seen me steal the book.” People like Rudy and Rosa have influenced her bad behavior and new self. Another influence is Max. Max is a Jewish man hiding from Nazis in her basement. These violations however do not just occur in the book, some of these violations also occur today. Much like how the Jewish were punished for what they believe in, today Muslims are punished for what they believe in due to the events that took place on 9/11. While this tragedy was the fault of a Muslim from ISIS not all Muslims are at fault. Most Muslims are innocent people like you and I. Humans are supposed to have freedom of religion not be discriminated against for what they believe in. If we as people could only realize that a person is a person no matter what religion they follow we wouldn’t still be in the same place 70 years
