The Border Collie: Intelligent Dog Breed
The Border Collie is an energetic, determined, and intelligent dog breed. They learn so quickly that it can be hard to keep up. Border Collies enjoy work. If they are not doing something they can become bored and then they find their own things to do. Sometimes these things can be destructive. They were made to herd sheep all day. This breed is also extremely sensitive to their masters every move. Border Collies are also very stubborn and independent. In fact, they have such a strong instinct to herd that they sometimes will start herding children, cars, and other pets. This breed can also become shy if they are not socialized when they are young. The Border Collie has a lively and intelligent personality.

The narrator even says that Jeannie, the Scotch terrier, gave him his "moment of keenest embarrassment" when she delivered a seventh puppy on a street corner (page 1, paragraph 1). The mechanic's look of "incredulity mixed with hatred" (page 1, paragraph 1) gives Thurber the epiphany that he has been riding around holding a tiny green umbrella over a ridiculous looking poodle all through the streets of New York City. Both incidents happen in public and many people witness each event; therefore, both dogs managed to publically bring their master some very embarrassing…

Here’s a little history on the American Pit Bull Terrior, dating back to late seventeen hundreds, the Pit Bull Terriors were used for bull baiting, hunting, and as family companions. When used as baiting dogs they were trained to latch on to the heads of bulls, bears, and other large animals. This was banned in the early eighteen hundreds and ever since then the notorious dog fighting had begun. Now, dog fighting has been banned and is a felony offense in all fifty states. Many dog breeds have been used for hunting and fighting, and are still used as family dogs today. For example, retrievers, pointers, spaniels, bulldogs and many more. These breeds were created…

How would you feel if a pet you had since you were a child could no longer be by your side because the county you live in does not allow them anymore? This scenario is very possible due to the Breed Specific Legislation law (BSL). This law regulates which animals are not allowed in a certain area. BSL began in the 1980’s when the number of dog bites went up significantly in the U.S. As people noticed this trend, states began becoming stricter with their breed regulatory laws. The laws were really aimed at pit bull terriers and their mixes even though the law was supposed to be aimed at “dangerous dogs to society.” BSL is not limited to just dogs. Other animals are included in this…

An Anonymous author stated, “Pitbull’s are beauty without vanity, strength without insolence, courage without ferocity, and all the virtues of man without the vices.” (Anonymous) As a Pitbull owner, I feel that Pitbull’s are often misunderstood animals. In reality any animal, pitbull or even a Chihuahua can be mean or gentle. Love and caring wins out with animals just like it does with humans. Affection is what creates a good or bad dog. When I was looking on the computer for a nice-looking breed of dog to have for a pet, I immediately fell in love with the American Pit Bull Terrier. They are absolutely adorable. I went to pick up two puppies that same day. When I got there, I was a little hesitant to enter the house. There was about huge blue pit-bull who weighed about a hundred and twenty pounds staring right at me. They assured me that it was fine to come in and as soon as I did, the big blue ox jumped right up on my chest and started to lick me. That is when I knew I had to have one. They are intimidating to people who don't know much about them, but are loyal to their owners. I bought two of them and loved them to death. They were the perfect pets. They make excellent guard dogs and know who is supposed to be on your property and who is not. I think that the…
