Abstract The theme of racism in films is better discussed by analyzing the characters and the plot of the film. This paper analyses the characters of a science fiction film “The Boys from Brazil” and that of dystopian fiction of the city of California “A day without a Mexican”. The conclusion is drawn from the elements that are evident from the discussion of the plot and that of the characters. This paper serves as a review of the book though with a limited scope – racism.
Introduction Racism refers to vices that are perpetrated based on the affiliation of the race. The injustices may include unfair representation, use of insults and utterances to insinuate that a certain trace is inferior, denial of employment opportunity, low salaries, among other vices. Racism is cited in many industries. One of the fast means of transporting racism is the commercial films (Levin, 2011). The fact that the criminals can be able to carryout out their plans almost without their plans being noted by any of the governments where they carry out their plan paints a bad picture of the countries involved. This sends a message of fear to the audience who watch the film since they would fear visiting any of the European countries on security grounds.
