The first difference is; the original tale starts out with the tin soldier in the box of tin soldiers, where the new tale starts out with a tin spoon melting in a ladle in a fire. While both tales start out differently, they end the same with the tin soldier melting in the fire. The original tale starts out in the darkness of a toy box and ends in fire. The new tale starting in fire and ending in fire has a dramatic effect on the moral. The second difference is the actions of the goblin. In the original tale, the goblin never actually touches the tin soldier, where in the new tale the goblin does physical touch him. The original version, implies the hatred of the goblin for the tin soldier, where the new tale physically shows the hatred of the goblin for the tin soldier. This leaves no question as to the intensions of the goblin and that has a dramatic effect on the moral of the story.
Between both tales, there are the same three main charters the tin soldier, the ballerina, and the goblin all have an effect on the moral of the story. The tin soldier in the tales represents steadfastness, honor, courage, commitment, and loyalty. The ballerina represents beauty, grandeur, freedom, and desire. The goblin represents anger, fear, lust, and hatred. With some many virtues able to be portrayed the moral of the story is decide up to how all of these virtues interact during the
