Despite a slowdown in the last couple of years, Brazil has been a remarkable success story in the last decade. Economic growth in the country has led to a rapid expansion of the middle class there – from 66 million people in 2003 to 105 million in 2011 (Hanna, 2012). Per capita GDP grew at an 11.8% compound annual growth rate between 2000 and 2011 (O’Neill, 2012). Building on its strong industrial base, with a wealth of natural resources, Brazil is expected to continue growing strongly in the coming years.…

With the rapid advancement of international economic activities, especially from the greatest contributor such as multinational companies in local economies, it has become increasingly important for enterprises to analyze the industrialization process in other countries as well as relevant changes that influence how business operate outside their homeland. Many advantages have been attributed to the globalization movement of many countries. In a country like Chile these advantages could be seen in the constant decrease of their unemployment and poverty rates, the increase of GDP rates, the economic status compared to its neighbor countries, the increase in educational standards that allowed technology to flourish, and many more benefits. In this paper I will analyze how these benefits paired with other factors like political and cultural conditions positions Chile in a good place to be the country of choice for possible manufacturing operations outside the U.S.…

The two main ways this happens is through bribes, and unauthorized payments. Bribery to the government can corrupt businesses and ultimately end them. Most politicians in Brazil will take a bribe to promote businesses and give them better contracts. Lots of companies and individuals use this as a way of advertising, they see the chance to get a high ranked official to speak about their company and pounce on the opportunity. Unauthorized payments are made by individuals or companies that seek the same rewards of bribery. "Brazil ranks with Egypt and the United Kingdom as the worst copyright regimes in the world. Though Brazil did industrialize, it churned out mainly expensive, shoddy goods based on obsolete technology. Computers were so antiquated that Brazilian firms stuck with paper; and as for Brazilian cars, in 1990 the president, Fernando Collor, dismissed them as “carts”. That led to another about-face. Brazil re-opened its borders, joined the World Trade Organization in 1995 and accepted international intellectual-property rules" (De Janeiro, 301). Protecting their intellectual property is the main worry Brazil 's foreign clients raise. Trademarks take very long to be registered. It seems like today; we often hear those who are calling for more funding for the current mental health services say, the prisons have now become the new mental health institutions. The largest psychiatric institutions are, in effect, the prisons because so many people with severe mental and emotional problems are now in prison. I believe some of the pros to the purposed policy changes in this week’s unit video could be: Integration of services encouraged through the efforts of a liaison person, providing programs with a strong leadership team, and Non-traditional case management approaches being used. This approach would rely on staff for their experience across criminal justice, mental health issues/problems and not over focused on their academic qualifications.…
