I can honestly say that I'm truly blessed to know the faculty and staff that I do on campus. I've always been told that it's not about what you know but about who you know and on May 30th, 2014. I've always been a fan of gospel music, considering I grew up in the church and most of my family is in the ministry in some way, I guess I didn't really have a choice. I've been on he choir myself since before I can remember and there just something about gospel music that makes me happy and moves me. When I was presented the opportunity to help work the biggest gospel concert that the university has ever hosted, I was extremely happy, especially since I know I would be meeting some of the artist. We had been setting up the stage and the audio all week but on the first day of the concert we starting setting up chairs around 3:00 because the doors opened up at 4:30. The stadium started to get full and all of the ground seats were taken. I could see cameras and local radio personalities such as Melissa “Wade in the Water” and Jerry Smith of 103.9 The Light and I'm not a shy person so I definitely introduced myself. They were so nice and Ms. Wade even let me walk around with her for a while while she met with different entertainers for the night. What was different about this is that is wasn't just the big named gospel singers that were performing but there were church groups and small choirs and this one mime team that caught my attention in particular called Face 2 Face. I gravitated toward them for one, because I mime myself and two, is that they were extremely powerful dancers at only the age of eleven. Jordan, the male of the duo gave me a poster of the two of them and I asked him for his autograph and the female of the duo, his cousin jumped in said sassily “I'll sign it for you” and I chuckled. They were definitely one of my favorites performers that night. The person that I wanted to see the most though, was James Fortune, I am a huge
