The Case Of Green Mountain Coffee
The companies described in this case used big data for different reasons that were essential for the company. In the case of Green Mountain Coffee, they used audio and text on both structured and unstructured platforms to gather data about their customers. The data was compiled and then used to find out the behaviors and spending habits of the users to better advertise to each individual customer. Using this data allowed Green Mountain Coffee to figure out how customers were finding products, asking about products, and which products were causing the customers the most confusion. AutoZone used big data to gather information on the inventory and prices of products at each of their stores. Each individual store can access a large amount of data …show more content…
The way they process this information is from the use of Calabrio Speech Analytics. Speech analytics allow companies to get inside the mind of the customer to better strategize for the future (Briggs, 2016). Sears used a software called Hadoop, which allowed them to get closer to their customers. Hadoop allows Sears to create marketing campaigns for customers at a much faster rate than ever before. This is because Sears can now use 100% of the data that is collected while also being able to store their data indefinitely. Google used their own special analytic platform to predict people that contracted the flu. They created a software algorithm that searched through all Google searches to find the ones related to the flu.
