The Case of the Bicycle Bandit
Narrator: Jaden, Jaren, and Tedra went bike riding together one afternoon.

Jaren: Hey guys let’s stop here at this park to rest a minute.
Jaden: Ok, that sounds good to me!
Tedra: While we are here, we all can play on the swings.

Narrator: So Jaden, Jaren, and Tedra park their bikes and went running over to the swing area.
Jaden: Jaren, I can swing higher than you.
Jaren: No, you can’t. I can swing higher than you.
Tedra: Hey you two, stop that, someone can get hurt.

Narrator: So the three of them played on the swings, then on the slides. They play for over an hour in the park.
Tedra: Jaden, and Jaren it is getting late, we should leave now.
Jaren: I agree, it almost dinner time.
Jaden: Yeah, and I am getting hungry too, and we all have homework to do.

Narrator: As Jaden, Jaren, and Tedra start running over to where they parked their bikes, Jaren sees that his bike is missing.
Jaren: Hey! Where is my bike?
Jaden: Your bike was parked right next to my bike.
Tedra: How could someone take your bike, Jaren?
Jaden: There is a bike bandit in the park!
Jaren: My dad is going to be upset with me for losing my bike.
Jaden: Let’s ride around the park to see if someone is riding your bike.
Tedra: That’s sounds like a good idea, Jaden.

Narrator: Jaren jumps on the back of Jaden’s bike and Tedra follows on her bike. The three of them ride around the entire park looking for Jaren’s bike.
Jaden: Your bike is not here. We have ridden around the park several times.
Jaren: Let’s ride around again!!!
Tedra: Look Jaren we can’t I have to get home.
Jaden: Me too! I will be super late, because we have to take Tedra home first, then I will have to drop you off. I will be in trouble too, for being late.
Jaren: You guys don’t understand if I don’t have my bike, I will be in trouble with my dad, because he told me not to go off the block with my bike.
Jaden: So why you did tell us that earlier?
Jaren: Because, bike riding with you and

In the 1880’s, American industry grew due to many factors including “the emergence of a talented and often ruthless group of entrepreneurs” (Brinkley 396). According to those in favor of these entrepreneurs, these men worked hard, innovated technology and strategized competitively to transform the American economy; these “Captains of Industry,” such as Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, J Pierpoint Morgan and John D. Rockefeller, used their wealth to help their communities and should be honored for their philanthropy. An advocate for these entrepreneurs is John S. Gordon.
