The Cause of Students' Depression
THE CAUSE OF STUDENTS’ DEPRESSION IN THEIR STUDY
In the beginning of their study, students often feel excited with what they are going to do. However there comes a time in the middle of their study when they feel depressed with their study. These are some possible things that cause the depression in their study, too much expectation, feeling disoriented, family problem, teenager problem, and having no vision.
When entering new life as college students, students often expect things to go right. In fact, things don’t always go right as they expected. The fact is college is not as easy as in high school, if they don’t study frequently, they can get bad marks, and they can’t put up with many tough assignments and subjects. Those things lead students into disappointment that furthermore cause the feeling of disoriented.
So as the things don’t go as what they expected, students often feel that they had chosen the wrong way. That they also can’t put up with their study and can’t adjust themselves with the situation makes them want to quit their study. It will get worst when they have to face another problem.
A thing such as family problem quiet often affects students with their study. For example, a student has to face the reality that his or her parents is about to divorce while he or she also has to be prepared with the final test is kind of depressing thing. There will be no doubt if later he or she performs badly on his or her study because of such thing.
Another thing is their problem as teenagers. It has already become a common thing to have a relationship as teenagers. However, students tend to never think about its consequent for their study. Students often don’t realize that having a relationship can mess their study. It will make them lose their focus with their study if they cannot manage it well.
Last thing but not least is having no vision. Some students often go to college on their parents’ demand or in other words getting forced to be in college. When

A multi-generational study was undertaken and a low final grade point average (GPA) in compulsory school was concluded to have an association with a higher rate of hospitalization for depression in adolescence. What this study indicated was that people with depression typically had a GPA one standard deviation (SD) below average. (Jonsson et. al.) GPA is one of the determining factors of whether or not a person is eligible for graduation, and hiring managers may look at GPA because at a quick glance, they can see how well someone did in college. Depressed people can often have loss of energy, a diminished ability to concentrate, and feelings of worthlessness. (Oyama, Oliver, PhD, and Nancy A. Piotrowski PhD.) A person exerting any of these symptoms will have a hard time in school. A loss of energy will make a person tired throughout the entire school day, and combined with the decrease in concentration, they will not get much out of the school day. Feeling worthless can…

The first cause of dropping out of college is regulating the balance between work and study. Students who are working while studying often break barriers of acceptable amount of working hours. For example, some students work full time or part time but they do physical work like lifting furniture or cleaning which makes them tired. As a consequence, they are not prepared for classes because they don't have time to study or they are too tired to focus on the homework. Because of that, they have a hard time in classes and they drop out of college. Moreover, sometimes many students get out from work too late and they are late for classes. As a result, they miss valuable time that they can spend on test or lose important information like introduction to the topic and they are disoriented. Continuing to be late forces them to make decision between school and changing a job, and in many cases they just quit school. Sadness or grief from the death or loss of a loved one, though natural, can also increase the risk of depression. Depression can be hereditary in families. If you have a family history of depression, you are more likely to get depression yourself. Many people with no family history can become depressed, so genes are not the single cause of depression.
