The Cause Of The Civil War Summary
In this week’s discussion, the article “The Causes of the Civil War” discusses the diverse opinions of what caused the Civil War. Author James Rhodes wrote History of the United States from the Compromise of 1850 and debated the moral conflicts that went on between the North and South. He also discussed the economic differences which played a part in the Civil War. Ultimately, Rhodes thought the war was unavoidable and I agree with him. It only would have been a matter of time. Slavery was a huge issue, as well as the economy at the time. Author Allan Nevins seemed to be on the same page as Rhodes as well.     I had originally thought that the main cause of the Civil War was slavery; however, after my research I now believe the true cause of the Civil War is much more complex.
