Franz Ferdinand of Austria was the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary. His assassination was and still is known as the leading cause of WWI, aka The Great War. The assassination led to the declaration of war on Serbia by Austria-Hungary. Also, Germany invaded both Belgium and Luxenberg, which were both neutral. There were also three crises between 1900 and 1919 that had something to do with this war. These crises between the Great Powers brought attention to differences between them and rejuvenated hostility between the powers.
The crises included the Moroccan crisis which involved Kaiser Wilhelm II denouncing French influence while visiting the part of Tangier in Morocco. Edward VII said this about the German actions, “the most mischievous and uncalled for event which the German emperor has been engaged in since he came to the
