In modern day, immigrants are referred to as “undocumented aliens”. The word alien, personally, indicates something not being of this world. The connection does not form of labeling a human as an alien, meaning a living person does not exist on earth. These words seem to serve a purpose of furthering the segregation of certain groups. Although many decades have passed, the scars left by The Chinese Exclusion Act remain, some still fresh.
Similarly, to The Chinese Exclusion Act, an executive order implemented by President Donald Trump, prevents the arriving of a certain type of individuals, predominantly that of Muslim states. When newly arrived immigrants desired entrance to the United States, they used false personas and records in hoping to gain passage into the states. Unfortunately, some of the families were disconnected, leaving individuals to fend for themselves. The present generations of Chinese Americans examine whether they are true citizens of The United States, since technically some of their elders entered by illegal means. The video also made it aware of the dismay people had of revealing the authenticity of their citizenship because of the concern of being removed from The United States. In one way, The Chinese Exclusion Act reminded me of the excuses some Americans use on why Latinos, or illegals, should not be permitted into the United States. One being opportunities or jobs taken away from the American
