Chupacabras symbolizes vampirism. This monster
would drink the blood of certain animals like a vampire. People in South America feared this monster a lot. According to The Onion “The chupacabra on the other hand, might. For, although hardened criminals cannot hop over trees to attack their prey, rumor has it the chupacabra can.” People were scared that the chupacabra would come into their homes and start sucking their blood. This raised a lot of attention because of how dangerous they were. In the Legends of the Fearsome Chupacabra “The 1995 Chupacabra attacks make the Fabled Creature as Famous as Bigfoot.”(pg8)Nobody wanted to come close to or near a chupacabra ever because of how dangerous they were to humans and their livestock.
This monster was used in advertisements and show all around the world. Chupacabra was present on an energy drink called “swagger Chupacabra Energy Drinks”. According to “Swagger Chupacabra Energy Drink they say the drink is to help hydration, increase stamina, reduce fatigue, and improve performance.”(pg1) Another way this monster was advertised was in the movie “Scooby-Doo and the Monster of Mexico”. This showed how dangerous, he really was to the people. Finally another show chupacabra was on was animal planet when expert Benjamin Radford talked about the spotting of him.
Lastly I chose Benjamin Radford a the expert on Chupacabras. There are a lot of experts in this field, but he stood out the most. He was a man who spent five years of his life studying Chupacabras. According to the website BenjaminRadfod.com “He also has his M.Ed and is a scientific paranormal investigator.”(pg1) Mr.Radford is also a fellow at the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, deputy editor of the Skeptical Inquirer, and author, co-author. Some of his famous works consist of Mysterious New Mexico: Miracles, Magic, and Monsters in the Land of Enchantment.
My conclusion about my monster project is that the chupacabra is now world wide but no one has a real description of him. According to “Ancient Origins Reconstructing the story of humanity’s past” states that “There are no known photographs of a chupacabra.”(pg3) This monster was very popular in Puerto Rico are and a lot of people feared it. It made people scared to go to sleep and leave their livestock out because a Chupacabra could attack them at anytime.(Fox pg2) I also learned that the name chupacabra came from the Mexican word called “goat sucker.” They got this name because when they attacked they would attack straight for your neck and punctured it. Also learned that this monster may have been an alien or a biological experiment no one really know. Finally i learned a lot about my monster and now it's one of my favorites
