1.) When Brewster says this first line I think he means a couple of different things. Mainly, I think that he means that he is very upset about how is life is working out. This line was said because he despises his powers and how they work against him. What he is saying is that none of his anger can even come close to comparing things to him. Most of his anger is his fault.
2.) This line shows a lot about Brewster's personality. He knows that other people feel bad about his scars and injuries, but he wants other people to see that he does it cause he cares for them. All he is trying to say is that he does not want to share the wounds because he wants the people who he cares about to be painless.
