that he could not marry Nettie, but instead Mr._ can marry Celie. Mr._ never noticed Celie, so Mr._ and Pa made arrangements for Mr._ to come back and look at Celie. A few days go by and Mr_. arrives at Pas' home again and asked too see Celie. "Celie! Mr._want another look at you" Pa says.(Walker 10). Mr_ didn't even have the decency to get off of his horse to check out Celie, like a real man would do that would ask for a woman's hand in marriage. Instead Mr_. just scoped out Celie, not as his wife or partner to live the rest of his life with and love, but simply as a mother to cater to him and his children. As Mr._ sit there and think about what he is going to do Mr._ rudely replies "That cow still coming" (Walker 12). Mr._ actions showed that he really doesn't care for Celie in any kind of way, for example when Mr._ and Celie had there wedding ceremony, Celie was hit in the head by Mr._ twelve year old son and Celie was bleeding all down her forehead, but Mr._ did not even care to ask how she was, nor help to clean and cleanse her wound as a husband would do for his wife. My least favorite character is Mr._ because of his selfless acts, his decision to marry Celie and treat her like his slave, and his incompetence of morals and values as a husband and father. Mr._only married Celie to be his maid and watch his children, not because he loved her and wanted a companion.
Once Celie was part of the house hold she was doing everything around the house while Mr._ did whatever he wanted to do, went where've he wanted to go. Whatever made Mr._ happy Mr._ would get, disregarding how he would make anyone else feel about the things that he is doing. All Mr._ cared about was himself. Mr. had been gone all weekend to see another woman, named Shug Avery. When Mr._ had arrived back at home. Celie was in the fields where Mr._ picked up a hoe and began to chop, about three chops before he quits. After, he just walks away and sits on the porch and enjoys a cold glass of water and a pipe. Celie thought he was sick, but Mr._ just didn't want to do it anymore. "You better get back to that field. Don't wait for me" (Walker 27). Mr._ felt that there was no need for him to do anymore field work now that Celie and his son Harpo were there to finish the task. Mr._ was so selfish he let the woman he loved, Shug Avery stay in his home, and has Celie take care of her. He wasn't thinking about how Celie was feeling or how she would feel about Shug staying in his home. Mr._ doesn't seem to really care about anyone or anything that doesn't seem to benefit him in some way. "Mr. marry me to take care of his children, I marry Mr._ cause Pa made me, I don't love Mr._ and Mr._ don't love me" (Walker …show more content…

What is beneficial to Mr_?
His wife Celie. Except Mr._ treated Celie like everything but a wife, he treated Celie more like a slave. Mr._ was abusive mentally, verbally and sexually. Mr. never acknowledged Celie as his wife. "Buy Celie some clothes, Kate say to Mr._, She need clothes? he ast. Well look at her, He look at me like the looking at the earth. It need something? his eyes say" (Walker 21).Mr._ didn't even call Celie by her name, but instead he labeled her as a possession by calling her it. Mr._ s' mentality wasn't about treating Celie with respect, Mr._ would degrade Celie, Mr._ would rape Celie whenever he wanted to have sex and he would also beat Celie instead of putting hands on the children. "He never ast me how I feel, nothing, just do his business get off and go to sleep" (Walker 78) Mr._ sexual pleasure were for himself only, and Mr._ felt that because Celie is his wife he can have sex whenever he wants. Mr._ also beats Celie instead of disciplining the children, he also beats her because she is not Shug Avery. Mr._ truly believes that it is ok the beat Celie because she is
stubborn.
