Joseph McCarthy was a U.S. Republican Senator for the U.S. State Department. In 1946 Joseph McCarthy, who was one of the youngest to run for office, was elected to the U.S State Department and was reelected in 1952. When he was reelected he had more power to integrate witness that they said was a blatant violation of their civil rights. Because of this act more than 2,000 government employees lost their job. McCarthy was a chair member of the Senate’s subcommittee. He took on various tasks but one that stood out the most was the investigation of the 205 communist members that he said were “working and shaping policy” in the U.S State Department. This was later known as the “Red Scare”. When McCarthy was reelected in 1952 he became the chairman of the Senate's Committee on Government Operations, where he worked as an anti-communist, investigating and question those who are suspected.…

As described in the Communist Manifesto, there was a division of classes that were between the proletariats that were the wageworkers and were used for labor purposes, and the bourgeoisie who were considered the capitalist class and the ones who were at fault for exploitation of the proletariats. The Communist Manifesto, published in 1848, was one of the most influential texts of the 19th century. In brief, it outlines how all of human development has been forms of class struggles, first with the feudal lord and peasant, and in later years the bourgeoisie and proletariat. According to Marx, the final stage of the development of society is rebellion of the working class. It is inevitable that the laborers will come to rule themselves and overthrow the capitalists. Capitalism is heavily attacked by Marx; he describes the system as exploitative, cruel, unjust, and therefore destined to be overthrown. Through the manifesto, Marx works to call the workers together to gain control of their future, as he believes they must.…
The 1950’s dealt with threats from the USSR and Communism which scared many people in the United States and soon became a full-fledged paranoia. There was fear of falling behind the advances of the Communist countries, especially among the Soviet Union, creating the Red Scare. As the Cold War with the USSR escalated, Americans increased their suspicions of Communist influences. Due to this, a special committee was formed in order to investigate Communists in America known as HUAC (The House Un-American Activities Committee). In 1947, HUAC accused ten people in Hollywood of supporting communist propaganda becoming blacklisted. As time went on, more individuals were being suspected of being Communists which eventually led to the act of McCarthyism…
This focuses on the inequality that occurs in a capitalist society. It suggests ways that this inequality can be overcome through revolution this theory was said by Karl Marx. Karl believed that the proletariat (working class) gets exploited by the bourgeoisie (ruling class). The statics show that 90% of wealth is owned by the bourgeoisie the rest of the society is suffering (being exploited). In order to end this exploitation in society there needs to be a revolution.…
Throughout American history, there have been an array of factions vying for votes in our democratic system of government. These organizations consist of leaders who believe in an idea and have developed ways to achieve that idea. Success of a political organization, or party, is based on how well leaders can convince people to follow them and join their ranks. Socialism as a political idea is based on cooperative ownership and redistribution of goods, services, and production. The Socialist Party of America was one faction whose roots are based in socialism. Created in 1901, the SPA was formed by the combination of the Social Democratic Party of America, a short lived movement, and the Social Labor Party, a working man 's party. This combination attracted new members, as well as members from the progressive and populist parties, which made up the majority of the SPA. The rise of the Socialist Party of America was fueled by the working mans desire for a utopian society. Campaign promises for public ownership of utilities, better…

When one considers the effect that the Industrial Revolutions of the 19th and early 20th century, the workers whose backs bore it are seldom reflected upon. It becomes ponderous whether the revolution was a boon or a malediction upon the working class and if they were truly aided by the great rise in standard of living that hallmarked this time. Those who would defend the period would cite pre-Industrialization scenarios, toiling under feudal lords with no future beyond death and an unmarked grave. An opponent of this idea, such as the renowned Karl Marx, would state, 'The modern bourgeois society that has sprouted from the ruins of feudal society has not done away with class antagonisms. It has but established new classes, new conditions of oppression, and new forms of struggle in place of the old ones.…

Option 3: During the cold war, fear that communism was going to spread throughout the world and the impending threat of nuclear attack plagued the United States. These fears led people to look suspiciously at their neighbors and many people called in accusations. Young children performed duck and cover drills and families on military bases lived with the threat every day. People built bomb shelters and Hollywood created its blacklist. Being accused of being a communist destroyed someone's future career. The other result of the Cold War was that it caused immense military spending, an increase in new technology, and advancements in security.…
The Communist Manifesto, written by Karl Marx is an economical and philosophical ideology that is centered on communism. Specifically, it is centered on the redistribution of wealth so that everyone in a specified nation or State is completely equal in wealth for the “betterment” of the society. This in theory eliminates the class system and as a result is intended to eliminate the oppression that comes along with the class separation and wage gap. Thankfully, for me this literary piece’s brilliance does not come simply from Marx’s economic ideals but instead it comes from the simple fact that it exists at all. What challenges me and forces me to strive towards betterment is that the Communist Manifesto serves as a reminder to me that it is…
