For one thing- without people like Ruby Bridges (whom I have had the pleasure of meeting in person) who at a young age- was brave enough to start a change by attending an all white public school. This little girl! And for the Little Rock Nine- students my age, they continued fighting segregation in public schools despite the violence towards Africa Americans (or Blacks as they were referred to during that time). Look where we are now! Civil Disobedience has been a widely preached about philosophy- Plato, Martin Luther King, Malcom X, etc. It was this philosophy, the belief of civil liberties- upon which this country, America was founded upon. It started with the Revolution- we wanted to split ties with Britain and become our own country to escape religious persecution and other things we didn't not agree with. From there- oppressed people of all shapes and sizes and origins have spoken out about things they feel strongly about. African American men during the Civil War fought for the end of slavery, and eventually years later got the right to vote. Women for ages have been seen as inferior than men- but through marches and protests- we women have come a long
