The target for my website is to persuade my viewers to raise awareness and caution for alcohol’s lethal effects. Throughout this website I will specifically aim at the factors of drinking and driving and the dangerous effects alcohol has to the health of your body. Although alcohol has been used for decades as a form of leisure and pleasure, this substance must be limited and served with precaution. Individuals are hurting themselves, their families and friends, and even other’s families and friends as a result of alcohol’s aftermath. Personally, I have experienced the outcome of drinking and driving as my father was once swerving in and out of lanes, was pulled over and served for Driving Under the Influence. Although my…
In an article called from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration called, “Impaired Driving: Get the Facts” it states, “Every day, almost 30 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver. This amounts to one death every 51 minutes. The annual cost of alcohol-related crashes totals more than $59 billion” (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 1). The fact that so many people die every day in the United States from alcohol related accidents is absolutely ridiculous. The stories are endless. In Steve Schmadeke’s article, “Man gets 15 years in DUI accident that killed mother, son” He talks about the terrible tragedy that ended two innocent lives. Schmadeke states, “A speeding, unlicensed driver who crashed into another car on the Northwest Side, killing a mother and her teenage son and injuring three other children, was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison” (Schmadeke 1). Because 37 year old, Richard Strum decided to drive while intoxicated, he took two innocent lives and injured three others. He not only took a mother, but he also took a daughter, sister, and wife. He not only took a son, but he also took a brother, cousin, best friend, student, and ultimately someone who didn’t even have a chance at real life before it was taken away. Drunken driving accidents are far too…
Drunk driving is a major conflict in our communities, states, and our nation overall. This is senseless act takes the lives of too many children and teens as well as adults-innocent people.…
Due to alcohol having such a drastic affect on a person's mind, the chances of driving safely while intoxicated are almost impossible. In today’s world, drunk drivers or pedestrians are involved in about 32% of all fatal car accidents (“Driving While Impaired…”). Being intoxicated while driving affects people’s ability to make smart and safe decisions in a short amount…
Driving under the influence has affected many people's lives and families' .Drinking and driving is a problem in today's society, and it is a concern for anyone who drives. Driving under the influence is one of the most common and dangerous situations you can put yourself or someone else in. The fact is that drinking and driving is a huge deal and can leave a long trail of broken dreams and hearts. If you drink and drive, not only are you putting yourself at risk, but your passengers and the pedestrians outside of your vehicle. Every…
My own ideas for solving this problem. This may not be something that is currently being done.…
Millions of people have been killed in alcohol related accidents, 90 percent of those people were innocent bystanders who were going on about their day minding their own business. Drunk drivers are people who make stupid mistakes ...mistakes they can't fix. Those drivers are the cause of many deaths of innocent bystanders...drunk drivers are the killers of themselves and others. Drunk drivers are murderers...they earn a title that haunts them to the day they die. This title takes away all trust people had for these drinkers...this title takes away all a person's hope and dreams turning them into nothing but mindless alcoholics. Though drunk drivers face punishments as serious as jail time, the consequences of their actions do not generally keep them from getting behind the wheel.…
At some point in our lives we have heard a news report that involved a drunk driver and an innocent victim. Usually these incidents are accidents where a person driving under the influence runs a red light or jumps a curb, hitting, and more often than not, killing an innocent person. These injuries and deaths are all easily preventable. In the United States, over 20% of all motor vehicle related deaths are caused by an impaired driver. Which is why this crime continues to be a national problem that takes the lives of thousands of people every year (Hanson). Way too often the victims of these tragedies are young teens or children. Why people drive drunk is a question that people have been trying to answer for a long time. There have been suggestions to implement tougher DUI laws, which seems like a great idea. Unfortunately, people seem to only look at the downside rather than what tougher laws would do for the safety of the public.…
Drunk driving can be very deadly. Yet many people drive while under the influence everyday. Drivers who are drunk are blamed for the loss of as many as twentyfive thousand lives in highway crashes…
Drunk drivers cause more deaths, injuries, and destruction than all murderers, muggers, rapists, and robbers combined. Every six hours, someone is killed by an impaired driver. Every twenty minutes, someone somewhere in Canada becomes a victim to an impaired driver. Every year, more than 45% of all traffic fatalities involve alcohol. More than 1.700 Canadians die each year as the consequence of intoxicated drivers.…

Impaired driving casualties are out of control. In fact, our highways have become a graveyard. The number of deaths and injuries are reported almost every day. Someone is pleasure brings tragedy to the family and loved ones. For example, there are drunken driving accidents happening every day, but this particular multi death in one family is heartbreaking; a 29 year old drunk driver in a dark black SUV killed four innocent people, a grandfather and three children under ten years old, on Sunday September 27 of this year. This horrific accident took place at the intersection of Kirby and Kipling Avenue in Vaughan around 4:00 PM. The government stands still; the media buried the news in their newspaper. Toronto Star newspaper did not consider…
Whether you have been in a car with a drunk driver or you have been the drunk driver. Whether you injured someone because of drink driving. Whether someone lost their life because of your drink driving. Whether you were injured because of a drunk driver, or you know someone who lost their life because of a drunk driver, I imagine the feeling to be pretty horrific. My grandfather was killed in a car accident that had nothing to do with drink driving. What if you lost someone because of something so stupid and so preventable as drink driving? This is why my three factor are: 1) How does alcohol affect your driving? 2) Short term and long term effects and 3) How to prevent it?…
In 2008, 11,773 people were killed in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes. These alcohol impaired-driving fatalities accounted for 32 percent of the total motor vehicle traffic fatalities in the United States; and represented an average of one alcohol-impaired-driving fatality every 45 minutes. In the book Looking for Alaska by (author), the female protagonist, Alaska, had died in a car accident as a result of drunk driving. For Alaska alcohol was a way to cope with the pain and the guilt after her mother's death. Another example of drunk driving and its consequences is the death of Junior’s grandmother in the book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian. Grandmother Spirit lost her life due to someone else’s fault. Alcohol abuse is…
