Speeding does not only affect the severity of accidents, it can also have negative effects on the car itself. Traveling at a higher speed causes the car to deteriorate quicker than it usually would. Speeding off at a stop light is worse on a car then gradually pulling off from the light. A higher amount of gas is also being used, as the speed, a car is traveling increases. Driving at a higher speed increases emissions from vehicles. The car accidents that are caused by speeding also have negative effects on the environment. The oil that is spilled from these cars can poison the wildlife and plant life in the area. The parts of cars that don't make into landfills also have a negative effect on the local environment, as they just sit on the side of the road deteriorating.
As I've looked at the downsides to speeding I don't know why anyone believes it is worth doing. The negative far outweighs the positive. Speeding can affect so many aspects of so many lives. There is no way to show speeding in a positive light. It causes death, injury, monetary loss, ultimately loss of time, and harms the environment.
I have now realized the decision I made to speed was not one I want to repeat. I now always follow the speed limit. I also drive according to the conditions of the road. I have learned that there is no reason to increase my speed just to get to a place on time. I would rather leave early, or be late to where I need to be. No appointment is worth the death of a human
