The Cost Of College
Majority of high school students graduate and begin to prepare for college with the mindset that their college experience will be the same as it was in high school. They will soon be awakened by the reality of the different lifestyle college has to offer. The cost of college can become pricey between tuition, books, as well as living expenses. In addition, college offers a more advanced social environment than high school and you’re fairly responsible for transportation in college whereas in high school they provide transportation.

Most students end up having to take out student loans in order to help pay for their tuition. Students are also required to pay for their college living situations depending on if they’re staying on or off campus. As for in high school, students aren’t required to pay for their living expenses because majority of students still live with at home with family members that take care of the finances. In addition, college students are required to pay for their class books, which is mandatory in order for students to be successful in their course(s). In order to attend classes, students must have some form of transportation. Majority of students own vehicles or live in walking distance of the campus, but those who don’t will need to obtain a dependable way to make it to class on time. Areas usually offer a bus fair which can ultimately become pricey. In order to make sure students stay within budget, it’ll be wise to come up with an average monthly cost for transportation.
When you weigh the differences between attending high school and college, you’ll soon realize that college is far more expensive than high school. The schoolwork load in college is increasingly difficult than in high school, and students will have a great deal of responsibilities in college. Though high school and college have a distinctive difference, students who think education is frivolous are mistaken and both are equally important to enhance the experience that people need in order to be successful in

But, in high school you are pushed in the right direction, given second chances (many many second chances). It is free and you do not lose money if you fail a class. You can always start over next year. High school, as far as your future goes, is meaningless, to a certain point. For college, none of the above is true. I'm adding this in here because I forgot to mention it: college is REALLY expensive and if you fail your class or even get a D, which does not count in college, you just lost all your money. No refunds, nothing. So if you go to a university or state school, you might be out 600-1000 dollars. Your professors honestly couldn’t care less if you do well. There are a few professors who will give you ONE second chance, depending on the circumstances. But if you fail a test, miss homework, don’t come to class, they don’t care. You will not get a call home, and you will not be able to get the assignment unless they have a website or you know someone in that class. Also, and this is the most important aspect of college to be successful, you CAN NOT fall behind. In college, if you fall behind in reading or whatever, it almost always will affect your grade because of the amount of studying and homework. Some of the big changes and differences are teachers/professor’s, grade, attendants, responsibility, classes, textbooks, locations, and studying. Let’s go!…

Many seek out financial support, but it is not the cure to the problem. If higher education was more of a practical cost, more people would attend college without the fear of being in debt for many years after they graduate. Tuition is the defined as the total price a college charges for a class. Students may also pay other fees related to enrolling and attending college. The cost of tuition and fees varies by college. On average, a public two-year college in-district student pays $3,347 a year, including fees. A public four-year college in-state student will pay $9,139. A public four-year college out-of-state student pays $22,958, and lastly a private four-year college will spend $31,231 a year on tuition ("College Costs: FAQs"). The College Board study reports today’s students are paying more than three times what students paid more than 30 years ago to attend a public four-year college ("College Costs: FAQs"). The national average for in-state tuition plus fees increased this year to $9,139, a 2.9-percent increase over the last school year (Hernandez). The inflating cost of college…

The cost of attending college is the first factor to be considered. A post-secondary education at any campus will be more expensive than a secondary education. High schools are fully federally funded and as long as the student is in district they may go to a public school at no cost. Once the prospective high school graduate begins the journey into factoring the costs of college tuition and fees, there generally are a lot of surprises at first. The cost of attendance for one year on campus at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond Kentucky comes to the grand total of $18,960. The tuition and fees account for $7,536 of that figure. The largest portion of the money paid will go to room and board, for a total of $7,724. Even if the student didn’t live in a dorm, housing could cost just as much as campus living. Apartments in Richmond KY run a price from $400 and up into the $700 range every month. Splitting costs with roommates could save funds but there are other factors to consider. Dorm living has cafeteria access, just like high school but with much better options for food because unlike high school, you’re paying more forward. Also, there are a few other costs to factor aside from tuition and boarding. Personal expenses, cost of transportation, and the books/supplies needed every year in college are necessary and constantly varying. A good estimate of money to set aside would be around $3,700.…

College is more expensive than high school because of tuition, living expenses, and books.
