The Creation of the Universe
The Creation of the Universe

In my short life on this planet I have come to question things that many take upon blind faith. We all know that we must some day die; yet we continuously deny the forces at work inside ourselves, which want to search out the answers of what may or may not come after. It is far easier for humanity to accept that they will go to a safe haven and be rewarded for their lives with pleasures and fantasies of an unfathomable scale than to question the existence of a supposed omnipotent being. Yet, there are a few of us humans who tend to question the why's and wherefore's that society puts forth to us. We question the existence of God, or the creation of mankind rather than blindly accepting faith-filled beliefs we may received from our parents as children. Perhaps it is because we live in a nation filled with many peoples of different beliefs whose Gods are all so varied and different that it is difficult to fathom that they are all the same divine being. It is also plausible that we just have a desire to quench the thirst for knowledge that lies deep within ourselves. As for myself, I cannot believe in a being which created a universe and a multitude of worlds in a rather short period of time then deigns to lower itself into becoming a puppet-master and "pulling the strings" of the Earth and all of the people therein. Since this paper touches upon many scientific terms, I feel that in order for the reader to correctly grasp the content I must first define three words: Theory, Law, and Hypothesis. The definitions will allow for a greater understanding of this essay and give us an even ground upon which to begin.

If the universe is so bad… how on earth did human beings ever come to attribute it to the activity of a wise and good Creator? Men are fools, perhaps, but hardly so foolish as that. The direct inference from black to white, from evil flower to virtuous root, from senseless work to a workman infinitely wise, staggers belief… The spectacle of the universe as revealed by experience can never have been the ground of religion: it must always have been something in spite of which religion, acquired from a different source, was…

Throughout decades, humans have been discouraged with an abundant amount of questions that cause us to lose sleep at night. Through struggles and great philosophers, many of these questions have been answered. Long thought out questions such as, “Where will we go when we die?” “Why do we always worry about what tomorrow may bring?” “What does the future hold for Christians?” and “How do we keep morals in society?” Thus far, we have been successful in compiling answers. However, there are other questions that have yet to be answered such as “Why is the grass always greener on the other side?” “Why do mice exist?” and “Why is there such thing as body odor? Why can’t we all smell like flowers?” However, through meditation,…

There are many things that were, are and are very likely to stay incomprehensible for us therefore causing perpetual anguished reflections and arguments for many generations of people. Some of these things are objective, natural phenomena in the world around us like the blue colour of the sky or the instinct of different birds and fish which always leads them home. But also there are such things like Good and Evil, Love and Hatred, Honesty and Betrayal, Self-sacrifice and Egoism, Eternity and Transiency. They are abstract, subjective concepts in the sense that they are created by the human mind and exist in only in our heads. Nevertheless they are no less weighty and, perhaps, they are even more significant for us.…

Supergiants, the largest objects in the universe, with diameters more than ten thousand times larger than our sun, and up to a million times brighter. Supernovae, the most violent and powerful naturally occurring events in the universe, releasing up to an astounding 100*1044 joules of energy, a number we humans cannot even begin to visualize. Black holes, specks of matter with theoretically no volume, yet with a gravitational force so strong that not even light can escape after passing the event horizon. These incredible events and celestial bodies are essential for the continuation of the existence of our Universe. And yet, despite how completely and utterly we humans are dwarfed by these giants, I find it amusing how we have the audacity to perceive ourselves and our problems as important, instead of striving to understand the laws by which our Universe functions and the 2purpose behind them.…
