1. What is your purpose in writing this essay? In your response, explore the deeper meaning of this question. The goal is not just to complete the assignment but instead to convey a message. What do you plan to accomplish with this essay? What do you hope the reader takes away from this argument?
I believe the purpose in writing this essay was to give students the opportunity to evaluates someone’s work and to see if we can look pass our own opinions and decide whether the person writing the article was able to convey their argument in a way that was understandable.
2. What did you learn from completing this assignment? Did you experience a new understanding of the topic? Did you change your perspective after completing the essay?
Even though I knew women struggled for equality for years, it gave me a better understanding hearing it from a woman’s point of view. It really struck home to hear Murray relate her thoughts back to the bible since so many people try to use it as a way to prove why men are superior to women.
3. What difficulties did you encounter during the writing or editing phases of the assignment?
Some of the difficulties I encountered during the writing and editing phases of this assignment is coming up with the thesis statement before hand and making sure I hit all the areas in the assignment I’m suppose to without making it wordy. Murray’s article was also confusing at times so it was difficult to articulate what I read.
4. What did you enjoy about this assignment?
I cannot say that the assignment was enjoyable but I do enjoy the fact that I am getting the knowledge I need to be a better writer.
5. Which essay did you chose? Why did you choose it?
I chose “On the Equality of the Sexes” by Judith Sargent Murray. I chose to write about this because it would give me the female prospective on gender equality.
6. Is there anything else you would
