establishment of gender quotas, as well as staying vigilant on issues like workplace harassment and gender wage gaps.
Personally, Roger Ebert thinks the more women work and direct the film industry, the better it will handle itself.
It might not make as much profit, but it will be a much cleaner, just, and ethical industry. As Roger Ebert explained in the article Women Are Better than Man, which Ebert wrote on is website in 2o12, Ebert believed an evolutionary shift is about to take place. While women were historically unfit for leadership positions because of their lesser physical stature and ability, they have evolved to become more cooperative and aware of human issues, while most men were blinded by wealth and individual success. The welfare of the movie industry and of society in general will be much better protected with them calling the
shots.
Topic 2 – Return of the Lost Ark: Indy’s Return to the Big Screen
This subject is about the Indiana Jones Franchise produced in 1981 and the return of India jones on the big screen. The first episode of the Indiana jones franchise “Raiders of the lost ark “was the most acclaimed movie of the trilogy. However, in terms of profit, the last movie “the Kingdom of the Crystal skull “got a higher number of entries in theater therefore putting the last Indiana Jones movies on top of the trilogy. The Indiana Jones franchise is in front of a dilemma concerning the adaptation of a fourth episode. As many franchise the dilemma between continuing on the same path and exploring something completely new can be hard to choose. Targeting new customers as well as keeping the fans of the franchise can be difficult. For example it is known that the Asian market is a considerable target for the movie industry. “Raiders of the lost ark” was the best movie of the year 1981 for Roger Ebert. However he changed it for “my dinner with Andre “. Roger Ebert is sometimes undecided which is seen as a flaw from many of his competitors. In order to comply with the new realities of the market and to keep the spirit of the franchise it is important to introduce a new generation of actors while keeping the original aim of the movie.
Topic 3: Star Wars Episode VIII? — Star Wars VII and the fate of the Star Wars Franchise
Revenge of the Sith, Lucas Film’s sixth and final creation appeared to the public in 2005. Almost 10 years later, Walt Disney Pictures now owns this enterprise and is the architect/designer of the recent seventh installment of the series. This merger, which cost Disney Movies a whopping $4 billion dollars, has generated a lot of questions and concerns regarding the series’ future and its storyline. This 40 year old franchise now faces the difficult objective which is to stay true to die-hard fans while at the same time attract a younger and current generation of spectators. As box office sales of the new movies reach a record high $2.9 billion, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the new company’s investment, will make most of its profit on the immense amount of merchandise associated with the movie. Even though this movie has received very positive reviews (91% on Rotten Tomatoes), skeptics has been criticizing it for its strong plot and characters resemblances with Star Wars IV : A New Hope, the company first installment.
After viewing the newest Star Wars chapter, Roger Ebert would probably have felt complete. Even though the story’s owner changed studios before the final episode, it still held its place among the other Star Wars. Though many scenes, characters and plot scenarios seem to originate from previous episodes, it had its own original twist to it. Through humor and legendary appearances of famous characters such as Han Solo, or even the Millennium Falcon, Disney pictures has successfully grasped a new audience that is necessary to the series’ continuation. The acceptable story picks up where the original trilogy left off. Yet one negative comment can be made on the fact that most of the movie is action scenes, there is very little to practically no character development.
