The Crucible: #3 In the book The Crucible, there were many displays of courage, weakness, and truth. Many characters showed these signs, but only a few stood out to me. I believe John Proctor showed the most courage. As of weakness, I think that I would have to say that both John and Elizabeth Proctor showed a lot of this. Finally for truth, I would give it to Danforth. One way John Proctor showed courage was by speaking up to Reverend Parris when everyone else was to afraid to. Not only that, he confesses to the affair that he had with Abigail in order to save Elizabeth’s life, and also chose to be hung so that he would not be looked down upon while his name was on the church door.
