The movie the crucible is based upon a play that was written by an author by the name of Arthur Miller. The movie is based around the Salem witch trial which took place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. Where a bunch of young girls in the community of Salem had just simply went into the woods with an African American slave woman named tituba to create a love potion for young men to fall in love with them like any other normal young girl might think would just be fun. The girls were then seen dancing naked in the woods by reverend parris which happens to be one of the girl’s uncle and this is pretty much where all hell broke loose in Salem. (The Crucible 1996) As the movie goes on it goes on to show that all the girls that were in the woods dancing naked then start accusing others in the town of being witches. The girls seem to get out of being condemned as witches because they blame tituba for putting a spell on them. (The Crucible 1996) In an effort to save his wife from being hung he then gets his house made Mary Warren who was one of the “affected” girls in the movie to testify that all the accusations were false, and that there really were no witches in Salem. Also another farmer in the community name Giles Corey who had the name of the person who a had accused and a woman in the town of being a witch, but he refused to give it up. They eventually arrested Giles Corey and through him in jail. In the end the only effort for John Proctor to save his wife was for him to say that he himself was a witch and that his wife was not. They then made John sign a confession that he was a witch and he was hung. (The Crucible 1996) In the movie the crucible
