Benjamin Button played by Brad Pitt, who was born with a special needs and physical attributes of an old man with all of the side effects of aging. His father could not deal with the birth defects, and was not able to handle the sight of this child. As a result of this he abandoned the child at birth, leaving him at a home. Young Ben was then raised with the issues of this abandonment, being different, and feeling different with the thoughts of dying at a young age instead of the invincibility that most children experience when young. I thought this was hard enough as it is, however Ben also was instilled with many fears due to his physical abilities and being handicapped to thrive. Ben was often told that he couldn’t do things due to fragility which continued to feed his feeling different. He was not feeling like he was getting older like everybody else in the world, instead of growing older Benjamin is growing younger, taking off a year each birthday instead of adding one. He would watch the people around him, people he cared about, pass on. However, while he was feeling the loss in his life from their passing, he was able to learn from them. He was seen as an 80 year old man, and often treated like one, which helped him learn a lot. He saw one of the granddaughters of someone in the house with whom he had fallen in love with, and wanted to play with her. Throughout the years he was able too, despite being judged for his appearance, he eventually was able to gain a relationship with her. When he was 17 he was feeling younger than his stated age and was able to go on a journey that spanned different countries. For once he was enjoying life, different lifestyles, and traveling, all while still experiencing loss and all that goes with that. I could closely relate with what he was doing in the moving towards enjoying life to its fullness and facing the fear of going outside of one’s comfort zone and
