Very recently the current Dalai Lama has been exiled out of China due to an uprising in Tibet. Lhamo Thondup, the fourteenth Dalai Lama, fled from the Chinese government because if he were captured, death for him would have been certain. The reason this happened is because Chinese government wanted to have stronger influence in Tibet. This would give them more influence over the future Dalai Lama. Though the dalai lama stepped down from his place in Government this incident is a clear example of why being a the chosen one forces you to subject to your role.
A normal leader in any other religion/governmental position knows that they want to be a leader after coming to an agreement with ones self. These leaders view their leadership position as a calling. Having a sense of enlightenment offered by god can ultimately persuade one to teach and guide others. On the other hand, their will always be people who are skeptical of a popular leader. It is difficult for people who don’t agree to wrap their mind around the fact that a calling was given to a random individual without concrete evidence of a conversation.
