The Danger of Too Much Power

Power is always dangerous. It attracts the worse and corrupts the best. Power is only given to those who are prepared to lower themselves to pick it up. Power the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behaviour of others or the course of events. So, we can say power is defined as a possession of control, authority or influence over others. The more Power a person has the more dangerous they become this can be seen in the Stanford prison experiment this is where seventy-five were selected to take on randomly assigned roles of prisoners and guards in a mock prison situated in the basement of the Stanford psychology building for a period of 7–14 days. Guards soon used, using physical punishment As punishment, the guards would not let the prisoners empty the toilet bucket. Mattresses were a valued item in the prison, so the guards would punish prisoners by removing their mattresses, leaving them to sleep on concrete. Several guards became increasingly cruel as the experiment continued all because they had more power than another person and took it too far.
Another way power is dangerous is in society. Bulling is an example of what can happen is power goes wrong. The bully may think that they are more superior to you and want the power you have. Some people in life won’t be happy until they’ve pushed you to the ground. What you have to do is have the courage to stand your ground and not give them the time of day.
