Thomas Jefferson's presidency started with the Revolution of 1800, the first time political parties sent candidates and campaigned. He managed to stabilize and empower the people of the United States during his two terms as president. One of his major accomplishments was cleared the Revolutionary debt the US incurred. He did this by putting his frugal/simple economic plan into effect, reducing the navy to several ships and the army down to small militias. This was one of his 3 main goals at the start of his presidency that he accomplished. He also spent $15 million in acquiring the Louisiana Territory from a war-weary Napoleon Bonaparte. This doubled the size of the US Overnight and he went to work by sending expeditions westward and incorporating the people. This was important because previously, people had simply pushed past the boundary illegally or squatted, thus stabilizing the nation. Jefferson also nixed Adam's and Washington's monarchial lives by not using a horse-drawn carriage or being called "Majesty" and gave more power to the states. As a strict-constructionist, he believed all powers not given to the federal government belonged to the states. This was important because…

The presidential election of 1801 was against Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr. It was an extremely close and hostile election. In fact, the first results of it was a tie. To break the tie, the ballot went up to the House of Representatives. Each state had one vote. This is where things got really heated! A young lad named Alexander Hamilton thought the election had terrible candidates. However, he saw Jefferson as the less of two evils. With this in mind, he went around persuading others to vote for Jefferson. Jefferson won on the 36th attempt to break the tie. Once his first term was over, he became a candidate for the election of 1804. He went against Charles Pinckney. Because Jefferson did so well during his first term, the…
Many historians regard Thomas Jefferson as one of the most influential men of the post-revolutionary period. Jefferson is perhaps most well known for his ideas regarding the new American governmental system. Many supporters backed Jefferson in his ideals and opinions regarding the central government during his delegate years, and even into his presidency. In 1796, Jefferson became the President of the U.S. Some believe that Thomas Jefferson was a hypocrite in that his ideals changed after being elected President. After being elected to the White House in 1796, Thomas Jefferson was able to maintain his earlier philosophy on government by upholding his beliefs on taxation power, states’ rights and, on the contrary, foreign affairs.…

The war made Adams less popular for the public and he later lost his re-election making Thomas Jefferson the third president.…
The presidency of the United States is more or less considered the premier position of power in the world today. Back in the days when the United States was just a new, developing nation however, it was much more than that. Being president of the United States in those days meant you were the overseer of the very activities that would shape the past and future of one of the now most powerful world powers known to man. One such overseer, the third president of our United States, was none other than Thomas Jefferson. Though there were two previous presidents before him, President Jefferson was the first to have the privilege of life in the newly constructed…
Thomas Jefferson was one of the framers of our nation; he was really good at doing it too. First, in his time Thomas Jefferson was a very good candidate for being in a leadership role, and that is exactly what he did during the Revolutionary War. He served as the Governor of Virginia and was the Vice President under John Adams. Secondly, Thomas Jefferson really had a lasting image of our government today. He was a part of Washington's side of the Anti-Federalists, and which today seems like the 2 main political parties: Democrat and Republican. Lastly, He also had to do with the Declaration of Independence because he wrote it! Some of these rights that we have today are because of the Declaration that Thomas Jefferson wrote. In conclusion,…

Negative campaign has become one of the best strategies for politicians to get to the white house. Every election year we see the typical Democratic versus Republican candidate, attacking each other and saying embarrassing things about each other. Last year was not the exception, and a little worse than the past ones. Other than the main ones Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, we also had Berny Sanders from the Democratic party and Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio from the Republican party, who many of us thought were strong and better candidates.…
Having a president with no party affiliation, would mean candidates would have a difficult time raising money for their campaigns. Money is important for elections to help influence and mobilize voters (Kernell, et al.). Campaigning for presidency is a money contest between each candidate and party. For example, the last election Trump was able to spend so much of his personal money to get what he wanted and did not have to rely as much on donors. Modern campaigns are based on technology such as television, internet, radio, and social media (Kernell, et al.). Despite its importance, technology is expensive, which means candidates need an exorbitant amount of money to have a successful presidential campaign. Although, there are regulations on funding during elections, the Supreme Court ruled that the government cannot create laws restricting how much an individual can contribute (Kernell, et al.). Candidates spend so much time and money campaigning, when they should focus on connecting with the people. During national party nominating conventions,…
