The Day I Tried To Run Poem
I’ve tried to run, I’ve tried to hide
To run and hide is all I’ve tried
But with nowhere for me to go
This lonely life is all I know
I’ve tried to hide this lonely life
By telling everyone these lies
It is dark and lonely so I run
From all I wish I could become
My lies have made me who I am
I look in the mirror and see a scam
I am hiding things from everyone
And running from what I’ve become
I mirror what I see for who I am
And running my lonely scam
I’ve tried to run, I’ve tried to hide
To run and hide is all I’ve tried
It is a lonely life with all my lies
But I know I tried
I’ve tried to run, I’ve tried to hide
To run and hide, and tell my lies
I’ve tried to wish
To hope
To dream
But it is all lies
I know, I’ve seen
And all my life is in

    Roadblocks: Poem Analysis

Many writers on their venture to becoming great, are faced with roadblocks. I too feel those stresses. When sitting down to begin a story, novel, or poem we all strive to be different. But as Baldwin explains, "there is no original thought, because we all humans think and feel has been thought and felt so many times before, by so many generations." This in itself makes starting writing a very daunting task. Not to mention the sea of fellow authors you are competing with for limited shelf space. A trip to a jam packed bookstore reiterates this feeling instantaneously. Really, what sets the writer apart is the original perspective and finding out what shape to give it to really hold the readers attention. This can all be achieved through the power in…

Run. Run they tell me, run to the hills. Past the river, and on north till my stubby black legs do not run no more. The Ways We Lie

    • 914 Words

It is curious to think that any one person could be telling a lie without knowing that they are. In the essay “The Ways We Lie” by Stephanie Ericsson, she explores the thought of how lies are incorporated into everyday life. According to this essay, “We lie. We all do. We exaggerate, we minimize, we avoid confrontation, we spare people’s feelings, we conveniently forget, we keep secrets, we justify lying to the big-guy institutions”. How do we know what the truth is, when we are told what we want to hear? Ericsson writes about ten different “lies,” all of which are commonly used. Ericsson speaks about different lies to justify peoples’ actions and thought, even though some of the lies are oversimplified and basic fundamentals are left out.…
