The Death Of Beppeev, By Odil Bekmirzaev
Odil Bekmirzaev

The burning hot sweat rushed down my face as I dashed through the busy alleyways leading to the vast city market located at Dean street like a madman. I was running out of time. Quickly scanned the area for exits I realised my only option was a thin dark alley. I heard the cops heading this way so I made a dash for the exit. My lungs started to regained strength, I could still hear the sirens wailing in the distance but I was safe, safe for now. I reached in to my pocket and pulled out a massive diamond the size of my fist for a minute I stared at its glistening beauty then I was of again. I had just stolen the most valuable item in all of pajenda the super continent we all lived on if I was caught I would certainly be sentenced to a cruel death. My brother met me at the front door of our ruinous house he took the precious stone from and locked it away in an impenetrable steel safe then we sat down for dinner. Our parents died 3 years ago and ever since we’ve been surviving ourselves. We used to live gorgeous lives until the government decided to conquer other worlds but in the process they forgot about this one. I looked out my hole like window only to see a police helicopter blocking my view. I attempted to get to the safe but it was too late the bulky police men had already entered the house and where searching. What I did next I might have regretted for a while I rushed to the closed window without stopping I demolished the glass and flew out like a wrecking ball. I took my last breath as I fell to the ground like a giant raindrop. I stood up in dismay I didn’t know where I was but I just ran. I slowly opened my eyes to a slightly bizarre image, I was lying in a pile of garbage in the scorching sun near an abandoned bunker. Then an old frail women came up to me and

Behind the beautiful steely blue Hope Diamond lies a cruel and often bloody history, a history that is full of mystery and intriguing stories. This ornate diamond has changed hands many times throughout its long past. The most interesting part of this is the fact that it is said that many of its owners have met with a gruesome fate. It is because of this occurrence that there is an alleged curse behind the precious gem, whether true or not. As stated by Richard Kurin, “[the curse] is only one small piece of a long and lustrous story…” (Kurin). From its supposed origins in an ancient Indian statue, through the hands of Royalty, and on to the ultra-rich, the Hope Diamond leaves a fascinating yet often brutal mark on many of those in its path.…

_The Death of Ivan Ilyich_ is a complicated novella with many different themes which could be reviewed. As is plainly evident from the title of the work, death is a major concept as well as how Ivan Ilyich handles his journey through the dying process. Ivan Ilyich's family must also traverse his death although they do not react in the same ways. Ivan Ilyich's illness and death are represented in the book through the five stages of grief that Kubler Ross models, which in some ways we can see by the way his family and doctors react both morally and ethically towards Ivan Ilyich.…

Tolstoy uses” The Death of Ivan Ilyich” to illustrate to his readers the undesirable consequences of living a life as Ivan Ilyich did. The theme of the story is lies and deceit. Ivan Ilyich made decisions centered on the thoughts and perceptions of what others thought. He also placed much emphasis on monetary benefits during making decisions. The closer Ilyich becomes with his own mortality, he grasps that he had wasted everything that was pure and meaningful in his life for acceptance, work, and money. The theme of lies and deceit is portrayed throughout the book. “Ivan Ilych wanted to weep, wanted to be petted and cried over, and then his colleague Shebek would come, and instead of weeping and being petted, Ivan Ilyich would assume a serious, severe, and profound air, and by force of habit would express his opinion on a decision of the Court of Cassation and would stubbornly insist on that view. This falsity around him and within him did more than anything else to poison his last days” (Tolstoy 760). Leo Tolstoy’s use of point of view and imagery in ‘The Death of Ivan Ilych’ illustrates inner turmoil between living for their own satisfaction and living for the approval of others…

After a few hours, I find what it looks like to be a long mound of dirt with gray fabric covering it. There is also a small hole in the fabric just noticeable. I walked up to it and turned it around to see what was under it. I jumped back in horror to find a dead shot German soldier. I had to put that aside in my mind and keep walking. I could not stop thinking about that mysterious girl with brownish blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes with a smile that lights the world. The way she looks as if the war had been around her for awhile. The first thing that I needed to do was to hunt for something to eat. I loaded my rifle and looked through the sights. Out of luck, a deer walked right into view. Bang! I now have dinner. As I am roasting my deer, I can’t help to notice that the girl who was watching what had happened to me before I went to the concentration camp. I want to find out more about her. Out over nowhere, I hear a branch snap and I turn around. Pick up my rifle and fire it super fast. I find what to see, egg yolk leaking out of the basket which the mysterious girl was holding. She said in a calm voice to put the gun down. I drop the rifle and ask how she found me. She responded and said that when we split up she ended up at a farm and was collecting the chicken eggs for the owners when she saw my fire and got curious. I snap back to reality and notice that my speedometer read 30 mph. I was in a 20 mph zone. I slam on the brakes to slow down. Behind me, a driver lays on his horn to tell me how irresponsible my last decision was. I reach for the radio and turn the tuner dial until I find something upbeat and groovy. As I remove my hand, I begin to hit on the steering wheel like a drum. The steering wheel is black and coverless. It sounds good when I hit it. It is also keeping me awake at the moment. My step mom sat next to me in the passenger’s seat messing around with her phone. She never pays attention to me when I’m driving. I see a curb on the next right turn I have to take. After running over the curb, my step mom glances up to make sure I did not hit anyone. When realizing that everything is fine, she goes back to Facebook on her phone. The darkness of night was exhausting. My eyes fluttered in the beams of the yellow street lights. In a couple of blocks, I make another right turn. Then a left turn into my driveway. I turn off the engine and let out a sigh of relief. I reach for my door handle and pull, eager to go to my bed. My legs wobble underneath me as I stumble out of the truck. I am finally…

I opened the door and standing there, right in front of me were the police. They said the neighbors heard loud yelling a couple days ago and they haven't heard any coughing lately. I told them that she went to the doctor and I don't recall any yelling. The police asked kindly if they could check my house. I allowed them to come in with no trouble because I knew I committed the perfect crime. They would never find the body. After I showed them around my house, they told they wanted to talk for a little bit. I pulled over some chairs for them to sit on and we began to talk in my room. Then I began pacing and I couldn't stop myself, I committed the perfect crime and no one would know about it. Then couldn't stop looking at the ceiling and I began to panic. This is when they found the…

I let my feet feel the carpeted stairs inch by inch. A found missing flyer was framed on the wall as I paced up and down the hallway my head was out of my mind or was it my mind was out of my head? Screaming. Screaming. Screaming. It never stopped! Where was it! I banged on the wall over, and over, and over, and over again. I ran to the closet door and opened it. There it was; the screaming. There she was; the girl. I couldn't see her, but I could feel the chill. A victim. I closed the door. My eyes crossed and rolled back. A shot of adrenaline shoots up me. The screams poor out of my mouth. I can't control it. I try to close my mouth, but I can't. I start walking down the stairs at a fast pace. Foaming at the mouth I try to get myself together but I can't. Why. Before I know it I'm picking up my gun and walking at an even faster pace out the door, but how. Something's pulling me, but nothing's there. I'm walking faster, and faster, and faster. Past the river, past the boat, into the water, to the shore, through more woods. Walking, and walking, and walking, and walking. I stop. My upper body seems to collapse, but my legs keep me stable. I look around as if I'm checking to make sure no ones there. I take the gun to my head I start to weep and call for help... But I'm already…
