The Demise Of Achilles During The Trojan War

The Trojan War was a Big Event in both Greek history and mythology. Many Warriors, Gods, and Goddesses appeared in this war. Whether or not they were titled as a hero or not is debateable, but in this war many gods and goddesses choose to fight against each other. Achilles was one of the biggest aspects in the war and one of the best warriors on the battlefield. Whether or not Achilles was a hero is questionable. Achilles was born to Pelus the king of Myrmidons and Thetis a sea nymph. Thetis, his mother, wanting Achilles to be immortal, dipped Achilles into the river styx and held him by his heel. Forgetting to dip the rest of his body into the river styx, Achilles was left with a heel that would be his downfalling. When Achilles was a young child, a seer prophesied that the greeks would need Achilles to take down the trojans. Knowing that, Thetis sent Achilles away to Scyros
There he took a woman called woman Briseis as a war trophy. After on Agamemnon, took away Briseis from Achilles after losing his own war trophy. After losing Briseis, Achilles refused to fight for the Greeks anymore. So Achilles let his friend Patroclus wear his armor and fight as him (Olympus Library). On the next day, Patroclus is killed by Hector because, he mistaken Patroclus for Achilles. In a mad rage, Achilles returned to battle to avenge his friend and kill Hector. Achilles defaced Hector's body by dragging it around in front of the walls of Troy for multiple days. After Hector’s death, Achilles continued to fight on the front lines for Greece. Finally Paris with a poisoned arrow guided by Apollo, shoots Achilles in his heel (Olympus Library). This was Achilles downfall. Even though Achilles killed many Trojan soldiers, many Trojan families, he fought bravely for Greece. Achilles is a hero even though he acted like a child when he lost Briseis, Achilles was willing to go out in a mad rage to avenge his friend
