Essay 2 Throughout the 17th and 18th century, life in the newly created colonies in the new world flourished. These colonies were divided between the north and the south, and life was very different. People say that life could have been more similar than different; however studies show that these two colonies were very much different. In the northern Colonies, it was mainly focused around family farms. These farms were far different from the south because they were family owned and family run; they did not use as many slaves to run their farms. Therefore these farms stayed in the family and passed down from generation to generation. The people in the north had good lives and very good lives, they had good opportunities to go to school and get a good education. In the north the education was better because of the more colleges in the north. More colleges meant more people could get a good education. Also the people of the north were mainly made up of women and children because of the family owned farms. The people of the north had good medicine and also had a higher life expectancy than the people of the south.
