Castles were mainly built in Europe and the Middle East. The main usage for castles were for the lords to control their surrounding manor. These castles also kept the Lord safe and had many defenses to protect him. It protected his family and riches safe from rivals while he was away. These Castles went through multiple upgrades over the years, it had everything the Lord needed to live with his family while being safe as guards and the castle protect them. The first castle was made by the Normans, they needed a secure place to protect their Lord. With the advantage of this Castle, they had won most battles. This castle was created in France. These Castles had great ideas in terms of architecture. The first castles had a small town look to it. There were two or three houses which was on a small plain. It was called a Bailey, this was where the nobles had lived and was also heavily guarded by knights. Past the bailey was the Motte, this was where the Lord and queen had lived. Another part of it was the Banner, this was the flag on the different parts of the castle that would be at the four corners of the entire square shaped castle, this flag told what kind of King or Lord was in this castle, there would be a certain symbol on these flag telling you the kind of castle and the way they used these symbols was called heraldry. Next are the walls and towers these are one of the most upgraded things from the first castle this castle which made an impact in defending the castle from invaders there were stone walls making it hard to get through and was impossible to burn down. There is also the Lords chamber this you can tell by the name is where the king and his family would live, it was the most comfortable place to be in the castle and was also guarded.
