What is the difference between personnel management and human resource management?
INTRODUCTION
It has been argued by scholars and academia’s the difference between personnel management and human recourse management. A hand full of them will agree there is a slight or no difference between these subjects while others will insist there is a huge difference pertaining them. Notwithstanding, my aim is to try as much as possible to differentiate between the two subject personnel management and human resource management.
Firstly, personnel management can be defined as the obtaining, using and maintaining a satisfied workforce. It is a significant part of management concerned with employees at work and their relationship within the organization.
While on the other hand, human resource management can be defined the strategic and coherent approach to the management of an organization's most valued assets “ the people” working there who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organization .
Although some experts assert that there is no difference between human resource and personnel management. They state that the two terms can be used interchangeably, with no difference in meaning.
But for research and further studies, we came with some difference between personnel management and human resources that catch the mind, the difference which can also be described as philosophical. The following underlines theses differences. Personnel management is more administrative in nature, for example, it deals with issues of payroll, complying with employment law, and handling related tasks.
While on the other hand, Human resources are responsible for managing a workforce as one of the primary resources that contributes to the success of an organization.
