Each player on a Netball court has a specific position, area and job on the court. The players are labelled with an abbreviation of their position, written on their uniform. The players are divided into two groups, the Attackers and the Defenders. The Attackers can run for the ball when it is passed to them, but the Defenders must protect the ball and try to get it away from the Attackers side of the court. The centre must stay on their opposing centre because they are not Attackers or Defenders; their job is to get the netball across to their side of the court.
The Positions in Volleyball
In volleyball each player has an important job to do on the court. The players rotate on and off the court in an anti-clockwise direction. There are six people on a court at a time, three players are placed at the front and the other three players are placed at the larger area at the back. If the serve is strong, the back row will receive it, if it is a short serve the front row will receive it and rally it over the net. If it is a foul serve and hits the net or does not go over, the opposing team will roll it under the net and they will have their second shot. In volleyball competitions at school, there was some confusion as to which way the players on the court would rotate. Traditionally, players rotate off in a clockwise direction. However, some schools have taught their students to rotate the opposite way.
