The Dog Ate My Flash Drive Summary
In the short story “The Dog Ate My Flash Drive, and Other Tales of Woe”, Carolyn Foster Segal writes about the many excuses she has received from her college students. Segal has a comic on her classroom door that is intended to remind her students that she does not accept late work. It hasn’t worked at all according to Segal (Segal 457-469). After hearing so many excuses, Segal broke them down into five sections: the family, the best friend, the evils of dorm life, the evils of technology, and the totally bizarre. The family, being the most common, relates to family emergencies and an over abundance of grandparent deaths. Similarly, the best friend is an excuse about wanting to be there for your friend when something is wrong. The evils of
