I read the book The Dogs of Winter by Bobbie Pyron, there was little 5 year old boy who lived in Russia. He abandoned by his stepfather after his mom disappeared. Over the book the boy was called many things, Dog boy, runt, cockroach and many more mean names but his real name was Ivan. Ivan was “adopted” by a group of dogs, that became his family. The dogs protected him and in return Ivan feed the dogs. In the start of the book Ivan was forced into a gang. Ivan had to beg for money and give it to the leader.
