Despite over 2,000 years of history and difference, Christians have been serving God in many different ways, and still do today. Brian Ivie, from The Drop Box, shows how a modern Christian can still serve. He originally couldn’t see his path, but after visiting Pastor Lee and his adopted children, he was compelled to serve God with his talents. Queen Esther, from the book of the Bible Esther, lived even before Christ and saved her people, the Jews from persecution after becoming Queen and rising to power.
Brian Ivie (The Drop Box) and Queen Esther (Esther 2-9) both come from different backgrounds. Brian Ivie grew up in Orange County in the 21st century. He spent his childhood remaking movies like Lord of the Rings with his friends. As he grew older, he became addicted to porn as well as other films. He eventually realised he could use his filmmaking skills for good. On the other hand, Esther grew up in Susa, Persia before Christ. She was raised by her cousin Mordecai after her parents’
For example, there is the obvious difference of Brian being a male, and living in the 21st century in Orange County, USA, as opposed to Esther being female and living before Christ in Susa, Persia. The more subtle differences include; Brian advertises his intentions, by starting a Kickstarter, asking for $20,000, finally earning $65,000 (pg. 72). Esther, on the other hand, did not advertise her plans. In fact, she had to keep them secret under pain of death. They also faced very different issues and challenges. Brian had to break away from his habits of porn and sin. He verbally abused his girlfriend and cheated on her. Esther had to face the threats of being a Jew. Her rights were abused when she was threatened with persecution. Brian brought himself into the situation, raising the money, organising the crew and going to Korea. Esther was forced into her situation, chosen as queen and suddenly having to save her
