The Effect Of Harry Potter On My Life
Harry Potter’s Magic
Countless different things have influenced my everyday life and made me the person that I am today. Although many aspects of life have been of great influence on me, the one thing I would say that has affected my life the most would be the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. These extraordinary series have been my favorite books to read since seventh grade. I could just not stop reading once I had started reading those big books. They are extremely addictive, and also amazingly educative and intellectual. These books have been the perfect world in my imagination, ever since the first time I picked up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. When I have major obstacles to face in life, and I did not know where to go or who to ask for help, I would just bury myself in the depths of the pages and let the words take over me. I would very easily lose myself in the vast pages of the exceptionally wonderful novels. They not only taught me how to get through the hardships of life, but also to have courage, to keep going no matter what obstacles life throws my way, and to be friendly to everyone I met because every single person living on this planet is fighting a hard battle of their own. The Harry Potter series have influenced me in numerous immense ways.
To be brave and courageous is one of the most important characteristics one can have. It is very critical to never lose hope in times of danger and darkness. These phenomenal novels have shown me what courage is. As the bright old wizard: Dumbledore, once said “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”. Harry, the brave young wizard does exactly that, has over time taught me to find out the happiness in most of the situations. When I moved to United States, I used to get pushed in the hall ways in school and students made fun of me because I couldn’t speak English very well but I always stayed calmed and looked on the bright side to see myself

Nelson Mandela once said, "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it." He also learned that courage is the ability to stay strong through adverse situations. The characters in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird are courageous. The novel tells the story of how the Finch family overcame a predicament that emerged from racial discrimination. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is disgraced for defending a black man who is accused of raping a white woman. This causes his children, Jem and Scout, to also face hostility. Despite this animosity, the Finch family bravely confronted any crisis that arose. Courage is necessary when facing adversity because it allows one to do the right thing and defend those who cannot…

First of all, there are moments in the novel when courage is important for one save another in risky scenarios. In the Giver, Jonas steps forward and rescues Gabriel, who is about to be ‘released’ from the society. He bravely acts upon his choice to escape, outside the community or in other words, Elsewhere with Gabriel. Similarly, in the Outsiders, Johnny heroically rescued children from the burning church. Despite the dangerous situation, Johnny risks his life in order to protect the children and as result, he looses his life. Hence, courage is of great import.…

I recently read the book staying fat for Sarah Byrnes by Chris Crutcher and I felt that this book really ties into the courage that jk Rowling talks about. When I was a child, my favorite movie was The Wizard of Oz. Out of all of Dorothy’s friends, the Cowardly Lion was probably my least favorite. He had gone to ask the Wizard for courage and I didn’t understand why. Others wanted tangible items such as a brain or a heart and yet he wanted courage. I had thought of courage as something that you just dug down and found within yourself when you needed it not something not just a material thing that was necessary to live like a brain or a heart. Courage is something I always felt I had within, but it was confirmed within myself when my school hit major news over racial issues.…

The book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde made the biggest impact on me. This book was written in the late 1800's and the theme still has deep meaning today. In my opinion, the theme of the story is based on the idea that we all have a good side and an evil side. I believe that there are life lessons to this idea. I also enjoyed the theme because I could relate to it in some ways.…

Nelson Mandela once said, “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear” (Mandela). Nelson Mandela, one of the most admired world leaders of all time, went through the same journey to discover true courage that Jem and Scout do throughout the novel. They do this by first having a complete misconception of courage and gradually progressing to being courageous themselves, without really realizing it. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee demonstrates that true courage is often not appreciated right away through Jem and Scout’s journey to understanding what it really means to be courageous and heroic.…

The value of courage shows in many parts of the story such as when he has his battle with Grendel, when he faces Grendel’s mother, and when he battles his son, the dragon. One of the best quotes representing courage is when he says, “I’ve never known fear, as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, if the dragon hiding in this tower dares to face me.” Though he is old, weak, and not near in the condition he used to be, he chooses to face his demons and right his wrongs by slaying his son and saving the people he rules.” ( As he begins the battle with Grendel’s mother, he yells, “Let my famous old sword stay in your hands: I shall shape glory with Hrunting, or death will hurry me from this earth!” He is in no way afraid to die for what he is fighting for and makes it known by jumping into fights without fear for his own safety.…

Heroism and courage go hand in hand. Courage is a feeling that urges a person to do risky, but great things. Courage is found everywhere, including in heroism. Being a hero is being acknowledged for doing a good deed or simply by making the smallest positive impact on someone’s life. According to Henri Amiel, “Heroism is the dazzling, glorious concentration of courage.” I strongly agree with this quote. Ancient and modern day literature exemplifies heroism in unison with courage. The heroes in these pieces of literature are recognized because they have the courage to do the impossible.…
