Over the past few years, people have set a new mind-blowing rate for the development of social networking. The impact that these social sites has had on our daily life and society in general, is undeniable. It brings much more advantages than its disadvantages to our society because these online communities increase communication ,strengthens relationships.
Social networking sites provide a easier way to communicate with friends and family , allow contact with people from around the world and give the opportunity to share thoughts with strangers.These sites have paved the way for easier communication to your friends, family, or colleagues. One example is that instead of meeting in a certain place, you and your classmates could discuss a school activity by having a conference in a certain site that you are all members of, thus saving you time and effort. Second, these sites bring people with common interests together, offer exposure to new ideas from around the world. Virtual communities are also formed, which are composed of people connected together by common interests, purposes and goals. So using these online communities can increase communication.
Social networking sites are expanding from general interest to more specific uses that benefit society. For example, sites have been created for medical purposes such as dealing with life altering diseases, alcoholism and autism. These sites help introduce people to others who are dealing with similar issues and provide information, contacts and encouragement. Some Web sites also offer tremendous educational potential. Students can use these social networking sites to discuss educational topics .They are developing a positive attitude towards using technology systems, editing and customizing content and thinking about online design and layout. They're also sharing creative original work like poetry and videos and practicing safe and responsible use of information and technology. Being part of a social network has a positive impact.
Social networking sites are good alternatives to real-world socializing. Surveys reported at newspaper indicate that Facebook and Twitter users mostly use it to maintain relationships with people they meet offline." Apparently, internet users have larger social networks than non-users, and they use social networking sites to maintain those relationships facilitates more face-to-face interaction. Internet users are augmenting their offline social networks through these sites. And also, people who have difficulties communicating in person, such as those with Asperger syndrome, experience great benefits trough these social sites. They felt more comfortable interacting with other people via the internet . These websites provide us the chance to do the online social networks.
Social technologies never have predictable and absolute positive or negative effects. But as social networking sites become more integrated in our modern culture, I believe that the benefits provided by these online communities have made us better as a society and as individuals.
